Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

...since launching her career. Now, nearly a decade in, the Adelaide-born singer dubbed “Australia’s favourite soprano” is embracing her namesake, including a song written by the late cricketing legend on her new album, Home. “This is significant to me because others will know him differently...

*Official* Australia v England post-Ashes ODI series

...of the team gets changed between series. Sure Behrendorff is out with injury but Kane Richardson did nothing wrong and was dropped for his namesake. Tye had done nothing at all to get picked. I can understand resting Cummins/Haze given their test schedule but the backups need to be the best...

    ***Official*** Big Bash League 2017/18

He definitely made a good point. The WA bowlers made it largely off the back of domestic one day performances while Kane Richardson was away with Australia doing well. I dont like Tye in 50 overs so much. Excellent T20 bowler, I guess if Stoinis Marsh Head all play,Tye doesnt need to get...

    ***Official*** Big Bash League 2017/18

In hindsight it is a bit strange that Kane Richardson got dropped form the ODI squad for his namesake Jhye. Are we sure they just didn't get them mixed up?

    The 'real' Steven Smith question...

...and that is possibly one area he might have to work on as his eyes start to decline even marginally so. I used to think the same about his namesake Graeme Smith, who used to make a living taking balls from off-stump through mid-wicket, but he began to play marginally straighter as he aged...

    Greatest all-rounder pre-Sobers

I can categorically state that Fuller Pilch did NOT have a first class bowling average of 1.35 or a strike rate of 4.7. Very early scorecards generally only credited bowlers with bowled dismissals, and did not record the number of balls bowled or runs conceded by the bowler. This issue...

    Greatest all-rounder pre-Sobers

Hard to see why Fry can be justifiably included. He bowled two full overs in Tests & that's it. His FC wickets to matches ratio isn't great either. It'd be fun, but I don't think batsmen from the underarm/roundarm era are comparable to batsmen who face overarm.

Should my namesake be included? Bowling av of 1.35 and greatest batsman pre-Grace Anyway, Miller or young WG to win it

...good in India. Ballance is very Duminy-like. Bullies domestically but something is missing at international level. As for Dawson, I never like putting down my namesake haha, but what is the point of him? I looked at his stats and he seems a very middling player. I don't get that selection...

...crease did not ever cease and from them the ball did rebound." A fellow called Nick I heard tell could make quite an unpleasant smell. His namesake was Hedley but with farts so deadly Underwood would have done just as well. Some parks, as insurance, from Beefy demand a novel en tryfee. His...

Which current batsman would have been good in the old days, without modern bats etc?

We're cherishing an innings of 44* in a total of 85 where he didn't protect the tail as being an example he can play in moving conditions, despite three failures out of four in them? I think you're just plumping for your namesake.

***Official*** Australia in South Africa + South Africa in Australia 2016/17

It's really just a matter of trying a guy. But the selectors go for 'experience' because it's 'safe'. The bowling's great except they're always injured. Starc getting some better control and not bowling long hops all the time would make it even better. Read all about it. Mennie was top wicket...

...Condersing the next two spinners off the rank (Agar and Boyce I presume?) are averaging between 40 and 50 with the bowl. Also, strictly for namesake, Marnus Labuschagne should be selected. I mean, that name, plus it's against his country of origin, THAT CATCH and he's kinda, sorta in form...
