Dont think Ben Hunt should be in for two reasons, against Melbourne we dont really need flair, I'd be more for Locky shifting to 7 with Carroll or Teo or Glenn in the 6, basically playing an extra running forward. Also the under 20's are still well in their premiership race so Hunt should remain...

    Last Man Standing: NRL 2009-2013

Taking Parramatta obviously. Cant see Burgey not taking them too, so if Bulldogs win then NUFAN will win but if they get through then the worst I can do is a draw with him.

dragons finished up about where they should have, second week of the finals is an improvement on the past couple of years, IMO they over achieved by winning the minor premiership and I think they can go even better next year. As for us, well wow, how could anyone have predicted we'd turn it...

Difference between 05 and 09 is the quality of teams left, for Eels to make the grand final that means they would have knocked off teams 1,2 and 3 and play either 1,4 or 6 in the big one. If Eels can win the comp it would be even more remarkable than tigers of 05.

First team to win the comp from 8th? Yes imo. Cant wait for the Eels vs Bulldogs prelim final, will be one of the biggest matches in years. Hope we get 60k for it.

LOL isnt that story about 5 years old? Also thats exactly what the Broncos need a 33 year old that hasnt played the game in 15 years.

I'm actually pretty confident Eels will win, just think at this stage of the season history, form etc... goes out the window and what happens on the day matters most and I think Eels have more self confidence and overall ability to win this game.

Really dont think they have gone that well. They have finished outside the top 8 the last two years after making the finals in 2007, they have got Internationals in Asotasi and Luke. Guys like Sandow, Sutton, Merritt etc... are rep standard players if you listen to the media hype and they were...

IMO I think Souths need to toughen up a bit and be prepared to do the hard work, this is something I reckon John Lang will help them with. I have the feeling that they've always used the "Pride of the League" and other such tags to justify to themselves their standing in the game. At the end of...

    Hussey retiring?

This and the fact a couple more failures and he doesn't see out the summer anyway. Maybe he's looking at it from the point of view that if he announces he is retiring the selectors would let him go out on his terms then.

    *Official* Tennis Thread

Lleyton has gotten back to number 26 this week so he's improving again. He's clearly not top 5 or 6 quality as we have seen with those guys, but I'd suggest he's every bit as good as Simon, Soderling, Monfils and all those other guys floating around 9-16 in the world. He just needs to keep...

    *Official* Tennis Thread

The Argentine's have gotten a bad reputation in the tennis world in the past 10 years or so mainly due to the number of them being busted for drug offences. Some of them have obviously also been involved with a number of on court spats with Lleyton Hewitt which pretty much automatically makes...

What about just adding one point per round so the finals are worth 7? Would make the so called meaningless matches early in the tournament mean more.

Maybe it's just a case like this year where there is a clear top 4 in the AFL compared to the NRL. I guess I just like the NRL system more because it gives you more grand final options at the start of the finals. Really though neither is perfect.

    **Official** NRL 2009 Thread

5-8 should definitely have a lesser chance but not to the point where its almost impossible, the thing I like about the NRL system is that finishing 4th or 5th is practically the same except for home ground advantage while in the AFL system 4th and 5th are worlds apart in week 1 of the finals.

Naa disagree, those teams had their advantage in week 1, particuarly saints, they knew what was on the line and the blew it. Broncos and Eels would be out if they had of lost and they played well when the season was on the line. Dragons and Titans couldn't get the job done when they had the...
