    *Gibbs Reveal More Names*

There was actually a lot of evidence tendered against Akram's conduct - by fellow players, journalists and physiotherapists. In the end it appeared the case against him fell through because of the last minute change of testimony from Ata-ur-Rehman, who originally claimed that Akram had paid him...

    Best Slog overs basher

I'll add to the number citing Razzaq and Symonds. At his best, Razzaq is absolutely awesome - although occasionally, inexplicably, I've seen him retreat into his shell and play fairly defensively, even in that last five over period. Dunno what that's about, maybe he just really needs to be "on".

    *Gibbs Reveal More Names*

In terms of Australia, yes, they literally swept allegations under the carpet, concealing the incident from the rest of the world for some time. But South Africa DID take action. The King inquiry may have been lenient on Gibbs, and people can debate whether they should have, but the feeling...

    Battle of the Test captains

Probably 'cause Arjuna's a captain, and has additional responsibilities? To be fair, it tends to come up a fair bit for Ponting when his captaincy is commented upon.

    Smith issues warning to Flintoff

Yeah, that'll be a factor. But also, for all the criticism it gets, the US is surprisingly well integrated in many areas, racially, where the identification as "Americans" is particularly strong. With some notable exceptions, the political rhetoric over there frequently isn't as casually...

    Smith issues warning to Flintoff

He made Punter look like his master. Nuff said. :) And he's been this way since his very first test. I actually don't mind him complaining about the psychological taunting, etc, but he looks a first rate tool when a) he's so happy to go there himself, and b) he's completely inept at it.

    Smith issues warning to Flintoff

Smith certainly works hard to endear himself to Aussie audiences. 8-) Archie, I don't think people (besides Smith) are insinuating it's the majority of the crowd - in fact, it's always going to be quite a very small minority. The problem is that that isn't that rare, particularly at the MCG...

    Battle of the Test captains

Most people are happy to make subjective judgements and express an opinion. Some people have a negative perception of Waugh, because they're critical of his side's conduct. Some people don't think somebody like Cronje should move to later rounds over honest captains that are highly regarded...

    Battle of the Test captains

Haha, maybe not, but taking Arjuna out would really tip the scales their way.

Taylor comfortably for me, even if I feel a bit bad about the weight of Aussies left in the final 16.

Allan Border resigns as national selector in apparent sponsorship dispute

Yeah, I was actually wondering to myself whether more expats/foreigners drink Fosters than locals...

Allan Border resigns as national selector in apparent sponsorship dispute

Yeah. BTW, I understand the issue with ambush marketing - you as a company have paid for exposure, and you don't expect other companies to waltz in and get similar exposure for free (like the blimp incident referred to in the piece). But the lines have to be drawn reasonably. I can't really...

    Bond will not sacrifice speed

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that myself. With these kind of articles/interviews though, you usually find the same things are said again and again (lest you face accusations of not being completely committed, or similar), so it may be that he'll play it a bit careful to start. IMO he could hold...

Allan Border resigns as national selector in apparent sponsorship dispute

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2006/10/10/1160246130803.html TO MANY, a beer at the cricket is one of summer's simple pleasures. But in the case of Allan Border, a conflict between his personal beer sponsor and that of Cricket Australia appears to have been the driving force in his decision...

He's going pretty well, mate - he's at the age (just over two and a half) where he brings home every virus out there so we've all got a flu-like thing at the moment. But he's starting to speak in proper sentences, and he's a bit of a cricket fan, so things are progressing nicely.

It's those smooth quips of his. Though his admiration for the poison dwarf takes some of the gloss off. ;) I don't even have MSN installed, mate, so don't feel bad. Too demanding for me - at the forums I can pop in and pop out according to the time I have.

    Battle of the Test captains

Nah, I certainly agree that Border is a legend of the game - I think I gave my thoughts on him in the Steve Waugh thread. Thought he was a pretty ordinary captain, though he's obviously getting a bit of a reappraisal in that regard with the passing of time.

Now I feel all apologetic... I guess I mainly post in cricket chat and off topic, and we don't seem to have crossed paths that much... No offence was ever intended though, mate. :)

    Battle of the Test captains

Ian Chappell here, surely one of our greatest. Still a bit amazed at the glowing recall of AB's captaincy in the last round (and at this forum in general), though I guess he had an unpopular opponent.
