Group A - India, England, Australia, West Indies

The Aussies bowlers are doing a fantastic job holding Dhoni down so far - gawd, I hope he doesn't get onto a few.

Not sure it'd be a good idea to try and get a 10th over out of Watson at this stage - he looks like he's had it.

I'm a bit split on Kaif. He's played fairly smartly, IMO, and at times I don't think he's found it easy out there. He's played a few lofted shots lately that might have been caught, though I don't think he was that worried, and might have been willing to sacrifice his innings for someone with...

3 down now - Sehwag plumb to Johnson. So far the pitch has been described as a good one though, and the dew factor ought to affect them more than us. Not too worried at this point - if India go on and make 270, 280+ I might be pretty concerned, but there's plenty of time here for a collapse.

I reckon that was out, too. In Bucknor's defence, it probably pitched just on leg stump, and he might have thought it pitched outside.

Mongia gone! Great bowling from Watto lately, shown great improvement.

I don't think Watson so much missed a sitter there, in the runout attempt - it would have been fairly easy to miss - but I reckon he probably could have just outran Sehwag to the stumps. Hope it won't be too costly a mistake.

Funny to see Ponting bristle at Rameez's comment about Australia being not very used to do or die situations. Every final is do or die, mate. (Plus, the Aussies tend to do pretty well in those situation in general.) Not a bad call from Dravid at the toss, IMO. Probably having...

    Should Trescothick be dropped?????

No. I think he's very much needed in the English lineup, and it's possible he has been suffering from depression or some fatique related condition. I guess if I found out later that it was just that he couldn't be arsed, I'd change my opinion.

Greg scolds Players due to lack of Work Ethic!

Haha, yeah... By the look of things, he might have done it already.

Greg scolds Players due to lack of Work Ethic!

I think it's getting a bit ridiculous*, though. I've been critical of Chappell in the past, and I think that some of his conduct around the whole Ganguly crisis was distinctly unprofessional. But what's the deal with this incident? I appreciate that if he raises his voice and the press pick...

Fantastic article on Cricinfo - The moment of truth

It's preaching to the choir, innit? I think most people are sick of the dead, flat pitches providing 350+ scores. I have no qualm with the opinion put forward by the author, but it's something that's been talked about for some time now.

Greg scolds Players due to lack of Work Ethic!

To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if all teams get a bollocking like this from their coach occasionally.

    Favourite sport? (Cricket excluded)

Yeah, same. In terms of spectator sports - after cricket, I enjoy AFL (though not so much in recent years being a Hawthorn supporter). After that it's probably tennis. In terms of playing: cricket, squash. Haven't played either seriously for some time though. I occasionally mess around on...

Yep. (As almost always) I agree with Jono. Manjrekar said it when it was 200/3, and he cited the example of what happened with the West Indians when they got Gilly out. But he wasn't the only person with the feeling that WI might wobble, a few expressed it in the thread. All in all, a good call.

Who will win the Champions' Trophy?

If you're going to mess something up, do it to the best of your ability, is my motto.

    Time to abolish floodlight cricket?

Most people would have picked Australia to win the final though - I guess we'll never know regarding the forfeits, AUS and WI were obviously not gonna be walkovers. But in any case, Sri Lanka did win two more games against us immediately after the WC final in the Singer Cup, so they were doing...

    Time to abolish floodlight cricket?

    Yep. And they were.

    Time to abolish floodlight cricket?

Really? Fair enough. I definitely felt we were better - we'd won our way into the final, and they'd benefitted from two forfeits. And just previous to the WC, we'd beaten them 4 times out of six, including a 2-zip finals result.
