Test draft - players can only be picked from 3 nominated countries and decades

I was assuming you'd have 3 decades and 3 countries to combine however you like in 9 possible combinations.

    Wales

Wales also played in the 1979 ICC Trophy, standing in for Gibraltar who withdrew because their best players were unavailable. If the USA-Netherlands game in that event hadn't been rained off, and USA had won it, Sri Lanka would have been eliminated due to forfeiting their match against Israel...

    Wales

Is Pocock Welsh? I know he was born there, and Wikipedia refers to him as Welsh, but on those grounds you'd say Maynard was English. Apparently by the age of 6 Pocock had moved to Surrey (Merton CC's webpages say he was scoring for them at that age), so he could well regard himself as English.

    Increasing number of tests draft

FWIW each of Walcott, Faulkner and Sobers scored 700+ in which they scored most of the runs while batting at 3; but I tend to think of all of them as batting at 5/6.

    Mike Hendrick 1948-2021

He gets a mention in Brearley's "On Cricket": in the 1978-9 Ashes, they weren't intending to pick him until Inverarity said he was easily England's best bowler against Western Australia. He ended the series with better figures than Willis and Botham (19@15.73). Unfortunately, he was injured in...

    Road to the Ashes 2021/22

They weren't touring every year, though - afaik Bradman only went on 4 tours in nearly 20 years.

    Jade Dernbach

Quoting the Cricinfo report on the match: - Willey, who scored only one from his first four balls, then thrashed 50 from his next 15 to reach a 19-ball half-century. It was a blitz that included 20 off one Jade Dernbach over - "I don't particularly like the bloke," Willey said by way of...

Voting - Bid for position (in blocks) draft

A down side of these completely open drafts is that it's hard to split the teams in the voting; and you end up with extremely good teams getting very few votes. I was wondering about having a draft (maybe with bid for position again) in which all the players picked this time are excluded.
