"Greatest Ever" Lists - A Modern Evolution

But my question is why was he rated so highly as a cricketer around 2000s that he was picked as one of the top 5 cricketers of the century? what made people chose him over Imran Khan or Richard Hadlee or Marshall? I know a lot of people rate him higher than Murli because he was more...

Best Test XI from each nation (that you have seen)

Didn't follow Ijaz Ahmed's career, from what I saw of him of him I thought he would be better than Misbah. :) I guess my team would also have Misbah instead of Ijaz Ahmed :)

"Greatest Ever" Lists - A Modern Evolution

why not Murli? and in 2000 his career was only half done, I know he won Australia 99 WC semi final and Final but that doesn't automatically make him top 5 cricketers of the century.

    Ajmal vs Saqlain

Saqlain in ODI by fair distance and I don't see Ajmal overtaking him In test, its Saqlain as of now but Ajmal might be able to overtake him Overall Saqlain

Best Test XI from each nation (that you have seen)

Didn't see much of both (Ijaz Ahmed and Saleem Malik) but for some reason I feel Ijaz Ahmed would be a better choice then Misbah. I started following cricket in late 90s too and got really interested around 99 WC time, mainly because of Shoaib Akhtar

we can't even pick him as a batsman because then he will bring his dirty politics with him and will screw up the atmosphere of dressing room again.

:-O this despite dropping 80 + catches in last few years, would have probably taken some of those dropped catches later on. I would still not want him to be the keeper  There is no point in dropping a batsman on 0 then take his catch when he has already scored 100, doesn't matter how...

    Fake sympathy, or delayed concern?

Cricket is not about hiting or intimidating your opponent, its about scoring more runs than your opponent. if you want to intimidate your opponent then you should follow some other sport.

Misbah is worth mentioning. Kallis also deserves to be mentioned. What about Country Walsh and Younis Khan? Country Walsh seemed like nice person.

    The Professional XI

Agree with that. Every player would have something that you can bring up against him. and as far as Ponting goes.... he is one of my fav players, as you would see in my welcome post I used to follow Australian cricket mainly because of him.

didn't know that. where was Indian and English Media at that time? they so fast at making fuss out of nothing if done by players from other countries especially Aus and Pak.
