    The Best of...

And his bowling was shot for the last couple of years of his career which sometimes makes it hard to remember how good it was before that.

    highest 50+ scores, percentage(Test)

My all-time favourite player. His greatness is such as to be above such mere statistical discussions.

How long will England be no.1 for?

Still not quite convinced by their bowling attack, somehow. Maybe it is just in comparison to the bowling of the last two sides to sustain the number 1 ranking and is a bit harsh. My guess is around the 2 years.

    Why Gilchrist ahead of Sangakarra?

The argument that you ignore 'not outs' only has any validity at all if they are batting in the same position. A number 7 has a lot more chances at a 'not out' but a lot less opportunity to make a 100 and almost never a 200. You might as well argue that Sangakkara has been padding his stats...

Who is the greatest Indian batsman of all time?

Sorry. For some reason I read this post as another piece of Tendulkar worship.

Who is the greatest Indian batsman of all time?

Can't believe that ppl can't believe that ppl are voting for others over Sachin.

    Have you met Gavaskar, Flem?

Australia (1995-2007) Vs. West Indies (1974-1986)?

Say Warne would not be a big factor is a big call. I can count on one hand the number of series where he was not. It is a bit like saying Holding or Marshall would not be a big factor.

Australia (1995-2007) Vs. West Indies (1974-1986)?

Only in comparison to the other side, I should say. The WI are associated with going 28 tests without a loss and the Australian side is remembered for winning 16 tests in a row (twice?). Faster scoring and SR were probably due in large part to the better batting pitches. Based on the...

Who is the greatest Indian batsman of all time?

No, but you do to suggest that no-one else should be considered.

Australia (1995-2007) Vs. West Indies (1974-1986)?

You really need to start the WI after the 75-76 tour of Australia for them to be considered. Even then, I would probably vote Australia as they were good at winning tests whereas the WI were good at not losing them.

Scores quick in a test; a dick in the rest

First person I thought of when I saw the title. Strangely, he was actually better as a middle order batsman in the ODIs.

Who is the greatest Indian batsman of all time?

I have trouble splitting Gavaskar and Tendulkar. I voted Gavaskar because I know all the Tendlukar fanbois will flood the poll. I seriously wonder whether all the posters saying that no-one else should be in the vote with Tendulkar ever saw any test cricket before 1990.

I am impressed with the lack of bread-related jokes. I had no idea this forum was so high-minded.

    Top 5 Players

Who rates 2 to 5 after 1900 anyway. W.G. Grace would probably had a shot if he was not pre-1900 and mostly before test cricket.

    Top 5 Players

Bradman, Sobers, Trumper, Barnes, O'Reilly seeing as how I can't select players before 1900.

Who is the best allround fielder ever?

Or Brett Lee if you think along those lines.

    New Zealand loses Donald, gains...

That was kinda my point. Bond and Hadlee were great bowlers but no indication that they would be good coaches.

    New Zealand loses Donald, gains...

A few posters here are confusing bowling talent with coaching talent.
