Did Barry Richards do enough to be considered in an All Time Team

Richards and Archie Jackson are the two players I have always wished had the chance to play more test cricket. Just thinking about it is making me annoyed.

Why do England struggle to produce undisputedly great players?

Can't see any of them getting anywhere near the all-time England XI.

Why do England struggle to produce undisputedly great players?

Think his batting is a bit underrated when you consider the bowling he had to face during his career.

Did Barry Richards do enough to be considered in an All Time Team

There is no way that Richards would have maintained an average over 70. If nothing else, he would have run into probably the greatest concentration of ATG quick bowlers we have seen. Which is not healthy if you are an opener.

Time to get rid of over limits in short forms of the game?

I was also suggesting getting rid of the over restrictions in T20, btw. I don't see this process getting rid of quality all-rounders. A side will still need four front-line bowlers as I can't really see a side bowling the same bowler from an end for 25 overs. They will still want at least one...

    ODI All Time XI

You don't rate Michael Hussey and Lance Kluesner as finishers? I would still have them above Dhoni, if not by much.

Best left handed batsman of all time

The fact that there are a lot more right-handed bowlers than left-handed and the LBW law might explain it. May need to look at success rate of right-handed bowlers compared to left-handed.

    Charles Bannerman (1876 - 1879) Victor Trumper (1899 - 1912) Dean Jones (1984 - 1992) Eddie Paynter(1931 -1939) Graeme Pollock (1963 - 1970) Jack Gregory (1920 - 1928) Don Tallon (1945 - 1953) Dennis Lillee (1970 - 1984) Frank Tyson (1954 - 1959) Stuart McGill (1997 - 2008) C B Tuner (1886 -...

    ODI All Time XI

OK. The quote was "Remaining not out does nothing to the batting average. FACT." Batting average is number of runs divided by times out. Now if you get out, it is divided by a number one higher than if you do not get out. Remaining not out allows you to increase the number of runs without...

    ODI All Time XI

I understand the argument but to say that being not out does not affect your average is just silly. I thought he was throwing out a stupid statement to make a point, probably the one you are making above. Only he knows. And I would not say a strikerate of 90 down the order is harder than a...

Time to get rid of over limits in short forms of the game?

And batsmen should be forced to retire after batting 10 overs.

    ashes 2010-11 highlights

Yes, I believe the rest of the series was replaced by a number of ODIs which Australia won quite handily 6-1.

Building a XI from the best of each decade

Nice team. You broke the rules of the thread, though, by picking players already chosen by OP.

Time to get rid of over limits in short forms of the game?

That would get rid of most of the issues I have. It might end up be effectively no limit because it would be fairly rare for a captain to want to bowl one bowler more than that.

Building a XI from the best of each decade

I could replace him with Eddie Paynter or Stan McCabe. They are probably better picks, now that I think of it.

Time to get rid of over limits in short forms of the game?

I have been trying to think of a reason why the limit on the number of overs in ODIs and T20s is a good idea and can't really see one. There are several negatives from my point of view It forces teams to weaken the batting line-up as you need really need 6 players who can bowl. It can also...
