Group A - India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, United States

^ as an addendum, given the good bowling stocks, once Pakistan do sort the batting out, they can surge back up the competitiveness ratings. They are just too cautious up top and frankly s*** in the MO - they need new blood and to scrap those who just don't have it. It'll take a WC cycle or 2 but...

Group A - India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, United States

I would like to see Pakistan strong and progressing but they are not the team I watched decades ago. Pakistan may sneak in (very unlikely) but they are well behind the T20 batting curve. The silver lining is that Pk has decent bowling and a huge cricket loving population so a star or two may...

    Super 8 Qualified Status

Glad to see WI in the S8.

Match #25- USA vs India (D)- Nassau County Cricket Stadium, New York- June 12th-- Group A

This is discriminatory - sorry to say it but it is. On the issue, I cannot imagine India being as amateurish as Pakistan. Are any S8 games set for NY?

    Super 8 Qualified Status

Indeed. A lot of hubris has had to be abandoned in this wc. Although the latter part of the tournament may be poorer for the absence of more established sides. They have only themselves to blame.

    Super 8 Qualified Status

WI (in t20) can easily trip up SA on the right day.

Group B - England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman

No issue with the crowds but the pitches are not yet up to par.

    Super 8 Qualified Status

A lot of 'big' sides have run into trouble. England are having rotten luck, but Lanka and Pakistan look to have deeper issues - a dearth of talent.

Group B - England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman

Qualification is looking dicey at best. The US is not a good venue (yet) for international cricket.

Group A - India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, United States

Pakistan are as good as out & have only themselves to blame. Fudged 2 straight forward situations. Pakistan have fallen far behind other teams in batting to the point of being a minnow.

    Building a 'Peak XI'

Interesting thread. I think judging players at their peaks (with a fair sample size of 20+ tests, or a 5 year period) is the best way of determining where each player stands.

    Waqar Younis vs Javed Miandad

Yes, both were incredible. Both were sadly ruined by injury.

    Match #17 - Australia vs England - 8 June

Am on vacation so missed this except via cricinfo. Looks like it was a mauling.

Match #11 - USA vs Pakistan - 6th June - Grand Praire Stadium, Dallas- Group A

Better than most the guys Pk have. Never seen such bad batting or death bowling.

Match #11 - USA vs Pakistan - 6th June - Grand Praire Stadium, Dallas- Group A

Pakistan are going home. They can get max 4 points. US/India will definitely get more.

Match #11 - USA vs Pakistan - 6th June - Grand Praire Stadium, Dallas- Group A

Pakistan should just fly home and save themselves the inevitable thumping from India.

Match #11 - USA vs Pakistan - 6th June - Grand Praire Stadium, Dallas- Group A

One of these sides is definitely a minnow.
