Super 8 Qualified Status

Qlder

International Regular
So far four teams have confirmed status in the Super 8's

Qualified
Group 1: Australia (B2)
Group 2: South Africa (D1)

Eliminated
Oman, Namibia

As a reminder 8 teams were seeded and will retain that seeding regardless if they finish 1st or 2nd in their initial group. If a seeded team is eliminated, the team replacing them will have the seeding of the eliminated team.

Super 8 Format
Group 1: A1, B2, C1, D2
Group 2: A2, B1, C2, D1

Four seeded teams looking a bit shakey

Group 1: Ind, Aus, NZ, SL
Group 2: Pak, Eng, WI, SA

So this could look like:

Group 1: Ind, Aus, Afg, Ban
Group 2: USA, Sco, WI, SA

SL are out and Pak and NZ look in huge strife. England's chance probably depends on what mood Aus are in when they play Scotland. If they continue to just steamroller everyone then that would help.

SL is not technically out yet. A win for either in Ban vs Ned tomorrow will put SL out but a washout keeps SL hanging on a day or so longer.
Fair point, although also requires Bang losing to Nepal too!!

Yep, 4 teams in group D could end up on 3 points if Ban vs Ned washed out and SL beat Ned and Nepal somehow beat Bangladesh

Pakistan looks in massive trouble considering the weather in Florida. Almost certain one of us vs Ned or Pak vs Ned will get rained out if not both.

I think NZ are in even more trouble. They're out if they lose to WI tonight, even a win requires WI losing to Afghan too given the huge difference in NRR.

The next team to qualify for Super 8's will be the winner of today's USA vs IND

A lot of 'big' sides have run into trouble. England are having rotten luck, but Lanka and Pakistan look to have deeper issues - a dearth of talent.

England will still qualify. Two games against minnows that they will steamroll. They also have to rely on Australia stuffing Scotland which is a foregone conclusion.

The only thing that could get in the way is rain.

Indeed.

A lot of hubris has had to be abandoned in this wc. Although the latter part of the tournament may be poorer for the absence of more established sides. They have only themselves to blame.

India have just qualified so now five teams have confirmed status in the Super 8's

Qualified
Group 1: India (A1), Australia (B2)
Group 2: South Africa (D1)

Eliminated
Oman, Namibia

Up next, WI will qualify if they beat NZ (if NZ lose they aren't out but will be hanging on by the barest of threads)
