    Australian Test Selection Thread 2017 - 2018

If Marsh was bowling I would have been sorely tempted to go him at 7, Maxwell at 6 and Bancroft to open/keep. That fourth seamer could be a real issue for Aus.

    Australian Test Selection Thread 2017 - 2018

I'd go with Bancroft. May as well take a punt. Why should all these other decidedly average keeper/batsmen get a spot when they've done nought to earn it such as Nevill. Who I am not a fan of. Batting and keeping in general very troublesome. I'd forgotten how enormous Haddin was in the last...

    Australian Test Selection Thread 2017 - 2018

I'm not a fan of Cowan - you are a very average cricketer sir. And your middle class meets hipster leanings won't do anything to disguise that.

Road to the 2017-18 Ashes in Australia

I can assure you, in spite of Swann, the Brits do indeed do commentary far, far better. TMS is superb and cricket on radio in Australia is C grade. I don't think it's fair to compare Sky and Nine as they are competing for and in completely different markets.

Road to the 2017-18 Ashes in Australia

That is a huge loss for Sky. I hope BT provide some kind of Now TV equivalent. I actually don't mind Vaughan, I think once you peel away all the social media stuff he's a decent comments man. Punter is awesome and Swann is absolutely dire. I have been watching the Ashes 2013/14 on YouTube to...

    Australian Domestic Season 2017/18

Renshaw really can't be scoring 10 off 100 or whatever. Good to see kpat scoring some, am a fan. Ahh starc. If only England had a tail.

    Australian Domestic Season 2017/18

Maxwell is going to end his career as such a disappointment I reckon. Not even coming close to touching what Andrew Symonds achieved. It's a real shame. Really, really pleasing to see Khawaja performing; despite his struggles, that man is class. Is Midwinter still around? I thoroughly...

    Australian Domestic Season 2017/18

Which ones? I don't think off the top of my head there are any massively annoying individuals - apart from perhaps Warner but, to be fair, he seems a decent enough individual these days; just a bit limited. Starc also seems a little bit of a DH but he's got huge talent so I don't care.

    Australian Domestic Season 2017/18

Yes, I think this could be second year blues for Renshaw. I'd also be very surprised if Maxwell lasts the summer in the test team. Still, an insipid line up competing against the incumbents (batting and keeping).

Road to the 2017-18 Ashes in Australia

With both Stokes (I think, haven't been following) and Pattinson out it does feel a bit of a let down. Two mediocre teams with some okish players facing off. And Smithy - this could be his form slump come at just the wrong time. Have the feeling in my bones Root is going to go big this series.

    A. Border vs S. Waugh - who was the greater Cricketer ?

I have a ridiculous love for AB. Having said that, if my life depended on it, I'd probably pick Tugga. Maybe... Jesus, it'd be a tough choice.

Name the best exponent of these shots you have seen?

Whoever these people are who have nominated Martyn for the flick and the on drive have clearly never watched the man. He was a master of the off side. The back foot cover drive. No one in the history of cricket, and I mean no one, has played it better...

***Official*** Australia in India ODIs/T20s 2017

Yes, why do they need such long breaks between all the games, it's been that way throughout. Completely destroys momentum, fan interest and makes the tour appear endless. Should have all been done at the end of the test series anyway. What a tedious money grab.

***Official*** Australia in India ODIs/T20s 2017

That really is a disgraceful record. I feel like other teams such as England have taken odis to a new level since the world cup with the big scores and Australia is just standing still. Be interesting to see results at home this summer when Aus have no excuses.

Ben Stokes - All the facts

Yes, I think this. The culture in that England team was not good. Broad, Anderson, Swann were the 'lads' and Pietersen paid the price because he didn't fit in. I hope Stokes does play again but always good to see a new poster bring fresh thoughts.

    Stokes Arrested

I read this on Saturday and was thinking how Stokes is going to light up the Ashes this summer. Most exciting cricketer in the world, such a shame for all. It is a war-like tribe, presumably, for the Stokes fuse is famously short. When opposition teams sledge him – that is, try to make him lose...

He has children. Doing that while I assume the wife is at home looking after them is pathetic.

World Cup 2019 will be a huge bore-fest

Dude, you are too invested in this Eng v Aus / Brexiteers v Bogans rivalry. Cricket is too good for that.

So Australia's inability to bat outside their own continent has now extended to ODIs. Good to know.

***Official*** Australia in India ODIs/T20s 2017

Australia need to get a clear strategy for their one day side in place as a matter of urgency. They are in danger of bombing at the next WC. Establishing Peter Handscomb as a permanent part of the one day set up should be an immediate priority as far as I'm concerned. Also, is Lehmann coaching...
