Which nation has the strongest ATG XI with a chronological caveat of one player from each decade

If it's when they debuted: Trumper (1890s) Lawry (1960s) Bradman (1920s) Smith (2010s) Waugh (1980s) Miller (1940s) Gilchrist (1990s) Davidson (1950s) Lillee (1970s) OReilly (1930s) Spofforth (1870s) Could include Harvey instead of Miller if 5 bowlers aren't wanted

Rank your 5 best bats from Australia post-Bradman

Personally I rank the Aus post Bradman middle order bats like this: G. Chappell Ponting Smith Border Harvey S.Waugh Hussey Clarke I. Chappell M. Waugh Or something like that. Labuschagne might come in. Walters unlucky. Also could include Boon but I think of him more as an opener even though...

How strong is Australia's Second ATG XI?

It’s not a hill I’d die in. Waugh was an out and out great. But so was McCabe. “In the First Test of the 1938 tour of England, McCabe played what was regarded as his greatest innings, scoring 232 in four hours, including his last 72 in 28 minutes. Bradman regarded the innings as the greatest...

    Jacques Kallis vs Keith Miller

Wasn’t my point, but sure. He’s often criticised for his WPM. My point was, he was an elite quick. Even if his average or SR blew out a few points, he’d still be elite.

    Jacques Kallis vs Keith Miller

Miller didn’t always take a large bowling workload because the team configuration had Lindwall in it as a spearhead, and Bill Johnston who was able to switch between seam and spin and bowl really long economical spells. Then there were guys like Loxton and Toshack who could do similar to...

    Mankads

This is exactly why it should be an expected thing, with no shade thrown on it whatsoever. It might be a desperate tactic by the bowling side, but the batting side is also desperately trying to get an extra run. It's so simple. There's a line there, Use it. No confusion.

    Mankads

It’s like saying a keeper should give a warning before a stumping. It’s ludicrous. The responsibility is on a batsman to be in his crease at the right times. So not complicated.

    Mankads

The example needs no more nuance. If the ball is live and you’re outside your crease you can be run out. A “mankad” is a simple thing to judge. A batsman being knocked over by a fielder mid run is completely different. There’s external factors at play and it’s a completely different scenario. A...

Selectors gave up? Trying to fit in two guys who were behind Ponting, Waugh, Waugh, Martyn, Lehmann, Clarke, Hussey etc etc You can’t fit 9 blokes into 4 middle order slots

    Mankads

I’ve never understood the issues around this. Sport is adjudicated on rules, not “spirit”. Consider the ball live as soon as the bowler begins his run up. If the non striker leaves his crease, he can be run out. It’s so not complicated. No warnings needed. Everyone knows. Problem solved...
