    ***Official*** Australian Domestic Season 2010/11

Yeah, as has been said he's a gun. Has never stayed fit for long enough to be seriously considered for higher honors though. I think he got a call up to an A team tour in about 2008 after having a good summer, but he broke down again shortly after.

I disagree, the last year while his batting numbers have been so poor he's looked like he's been trying to take his batting more seriously, playing conservatively early on and looking to get himself in before taking any risks. He just doesn't have the technique/judgment to play like that, he...

I think Butterworth has it over McDonald as a bowler tbh, seems to have a little bit more pace about him (although he is still only high 120's, which would be pretty pedestrian at international level), and he makes the ball talk more consistently than McDonald. McDonald definately the better...

*Official* First Test at the Gabba

I think Strauss might be hesitant to make that call after what happened last time an English captain elected to bowl first at the Gabba

I think he was unlucky not to play ODIs for Australia during the mid-00s. Had a few IMO less worthy one day bowlers leap frog him in the pecking order (eg Lewis, Dorey).

FC Bollinger Lee O'Keefe Clark? Does anyone know what the story is with Burt ****ley? I assume he's hurt his back again or something. If fit and bowling at his best I think he should be ahead of Clark/Bracken/Starc/Coyte/Copeland/etc etc, at least in four day cricket.

IMO Wade will overtake Paine in all three forms of the game by the time Haddin retires. I don't mean that as a criticism of Paine either, his game has improved out of sight in recent years and I'm sure he'll keep getting better. I just think Wade has significantly more talent with the bat, he's...

    The Australian Selectors

They still made some very good calls in the early 90's with regards to identifying unproven young talent and then persevering with it. Warne was plucked from obscurity after a few first class matches in which his results were pretty ordinary. Healy was very similar. McGrath was persisted with...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

Great, just what we need...Another bloody Mitch to come in and have one awesome test series per year then be a passenger the rest of the time

    The Australian Selectors

I find it pretty ironic that the English selectors are reaping the rewards for some calculated risks and excellent handling of their young talent, while the Australian panel is getting flack from all and sundry for chopping and changing like nitwits and their inflexibility with the senior...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

Pretty amazed Kohli doesn't have a test cap yet. I know the guys who've been picked ahead of him like Raina, Pujara and Badrinath obviously have some ability, but Kohli looks like he's going to be a serious player for India, in all likelyhood Sachin's successor at number 4, and he's already...

    The Australian Selectors

This is true tbh, even when the team was dominating I can still recall them doing things like giving Brad Williams a test cap over the likes of Inness and Kasprowicz/ watching Katich score a hundred and then leaving him out of the next test for Andrew Symonds.

    The Australian Selectors

Hilfenhaus is clearly in Australia's best test side at the moment, and leave Howard out of this! But yes, they've certainly made some pretty dubious calls the past 2-3 years. The handling of Krezja, Phil Hughes, Casson sticks out in my mind. I think the one thing they really deserve credit for...

    *Official* Australia in India 2010

Logically you'd think North would be the one to go rather than Hussey, but if it did happen I think it'd have something to do with Hussey having only just joined the team from the Champions League in the last day and thus not being too well prepared.

Kinda miffed at them bringing Hazlewood over. I know he's a talent and they're trying to develop him etc, but he's the fourth best seamer in NSW (and that's being pretty generous). Is a series in India immediately preceeding the Ashes really the time to be looking way down the track.

    ***Official*** Spot-Fixing Scandal

I thought the most questionable result of the whole tour was the T20 game in Melbourne, Pakistan were cruising at one point in their chase and then threw it away with some bizarre running between the wickets and ridiculous dismissals. There was something especially fishy about the wickets of...

Kieron Pollard given WICB central contract for 2010/11

Pretty ridiculous decision to leave Sarwan out imo, irrespective of fitness. He might not have delivered as often as some feel he could've, but they guy's only 30 and he's played 80+ tests for a 40+ average. Besides India I don't see how any team in world cricket at the moment can afford to...

*Official* Australia vs Pakistan in England

Moving Clarke now would be very dumb, he's obviously going to be at number four for years to come (unless things go terribly wrong), so why budge him from there temporarily straight after giving him the job just to accommodate Ponting's ego. Move Watson to 3, Ponting to 5, Hussey to 6. Gets...

    Ricky Ponting should be sacked

I don't think it'd do the batting any harm at all to drop him down the order to 4/5 and have Watson bat 3. 1.Hughes 2.Katich 3.Watson 4.Clarke 5.Ponting 6.Hussey 7.Haddin etc I'm fairly sure we're going to end up with Hughes and somebody opening and Watson/Clarke at 3/4 once Ponting retires...
