Players who played way more internationals than they should

Yeah generally I'd agree with you, but remember the bowling had been awful in the two preceding tests. They'd failed to defend 400+ in Perth despite Johnson bowling out of his skin and then in Melbourne they had South Africa on the ropes only to be made look pedestrian by Dale Steyn. The...

    *Official* Australia in New Zealand

I think he's upto it, has shown a penchant for lifting his game when the oppurtunity presents itself thus far in his international career, and I see nothing to suggest he wouldn't make a good fist of batting 6 in tests. I think a few eyebrows were raised when he was given the chance to bat 3 in...

    *Official* Australia in New Zealand

There's actually less than a year in age difference between North and Klinger lol, and North has at least been a regular contributor at shield level for the majority of his career. But I do agree re North, unless he has a very substantial/convincing knock or two for WA at some stage in the next...

Players who played way more internationals than they should

I disagree, he was never going to set the world on fire, but the selectors decided they wanted an allrounder to bat at 6 and who else were they gonna pick? Henriques? Christian? Hopes? Worth noting we won 3 of 4 matches he played and that the guy did a respectable (although no more than that...

Players who played way more internationals than they should

Granted I probably didn't see alot of Irani until injuries were having a real impact on his bowling, however it was during that period that he played the majority of his ODI's for England which reinforces my original point...played more than he should have. I will give him credit to the extent...

    Craig Kieswetter qualifies for England

I was kinda suprised when I heard he was going to try his luck with England and not return home, oppurtunities to play international cricket might have been greater with South Africa. One would think Boucher's career will be drawing to a close soon and Kieswetter would've been an ideal candidate...

Players who played way more internationals than they should

Personal opinion... I know Irani's domestic record was excellent and on the basis of that you could argue he completely deserved the chances he got...However just watching him ply his trade at international level I recall him looking so out of his depth it wasn't funny. (I'm referring mainly to...

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia

Hilfenhaus was up to 146kph at times during the Ashes and South Africa tours....majority of both their deliveries seem to be about 138-143 though...much like Siddle, don't think there's much between those three in terms of pace. I don't think his lack of FC cricket this summer will count...

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia

Anyone else think Harris is a very good chance of making the test party to go to New Zealand if Hilfenhaus isn't fit? Think he'd be seen by Ponting and the selectors as a bit of a like-for-like replacement, bowls at a similar pace to Hilfenhaus and with the same 'heavy ball', and he also offers...

Best new ball pair late 90's/early 00's

Who in your opinion was the better of the four dominant new ball pairings floating around in world cricket from the mid-late 1990's through to the first part of this decade...Perhaps comparison is a little unfair as Wasim/Waqar were at their peaks in the early 90's whereas McGrath/Gillespie...

Ponting to drop down the order?

Ponting to drop down the order?

The only guys in the country who I'd actually have enough faith in to bat at three at the moment are Hussey and Katich who are nearly as old as Ponting so there's not alot of point, and Watson. I think Watson is Australia's next long term number 3.

    Brad Haddin

Yeah I don't imagine they would be either, not saying I rate Haddin's keeping all that highly, I just don't think his glovework is any worse than what we've been getting over the past decade..
  20. I

    Brad Haddin

I don't really think Haddin's keeping is any worse than Gilchrist's was to be honest, remember Gilly used to have his shockers with the gloves now and then (eg England in 2001), and it wasn't unheard of for him to drop some pretty regulation chances, however he was always capable of balancing...
