*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

It is re-assuring, though (for the rules followers/believers), to see some immigrant or 2nd gen e.g. Punjabis in the SENA teams also looking like they're 23.

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

I reckon he'll go good in test cricket, would be his best format. I like how consistently threatening his stock ball looks to be. He's only one or one half season removed from being provincial 3rd seamer, so I reckon he's quite rounded. Not new-ball reliant. He'll suffer from Jamieson...

West Indies crop of pace bowlers

Yeah, maybe in test cricket. It was WSC that I was watching from 92/93. His record on ODIs was good.

lol, after posting this. It looks like Canterbury v Otago will be abandoned after the opening bowlers have bowled exactly 4 overs each ....

West Indies crop of pace bowlers

I remember being down on Anderson Cummins at the time, because he wasn't 6 foot 8 like I thought all Windies bowlers should be. But looking back at some youtube cricket, he looked pretty good.

Who is the best batsman from your country with a Test Batting Average of under 40 ?

I was watching some old 90s cricket on youtube last month. I saw a fair amount of Andrew Hudson, remember him as a bit dull. But in a highlights package without the dot balls he is one of the best batsmen to watch of the 1990s. Man his scoring shots and boundaries were techincally perfect and...

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

I don't mind a couple of rounds of Ford Trophy (after the SS) to work the 4-over-max patheticness out of the bowlers soft bodies. Don't like the 'block', though. Not much chance for these guys to earn a way into the test squad before a test series actually bloody starts.

O'Rourke looks in good nick. https://scoring.nzc.nz/?tab=m_scorecard#m172584cf-7b40-4a10-a66b-304e8c8b4bb1

Who is the best batsman from your country with a Test Batting Average of under 40 ?

Jeremy Coney for NZ. Or maybe John Wright because he was an opener. But Coney out-perfromed him (while their careers overlapped) against the same opposition, Wright had a late-career golden period. Astle the other one that sticks out.

*Official* 2024 South Africa tour of New Zealand: 2 tests

The direness of the domestic season structure is not apparent on the surface when the test 11 is full of generational talents, experienced and settled. Only when the team is in a flux or in transition will the stupidity of the scheduling structure rare its ugly head again with any consequences...

    Well, they aren't even official T20s, I don't think.

I can definitely see Trent Boult liking a 30m 3rd man boundary to ramp 6s all day. Is that where he developed his ramp over gully from outside leg skills?

    NZ domestic season 2023/24

Apart form Bruce and Bracewell. Other absentees for CD: Paceman BRETT RANDELL is also missing as he works his way back to top gear after a torn pectoral muscle, while allrounder JOEY FIELD will be out of action for the rest of the summer following an unfortunate shoulder dislocation during the...

Probably something as dull as visa issues.

What is the cause for a lack of quality batsmen from the 92-99 generation?

No, not a dig. I guess I associate him with the slightly older group because of how he slotted into the U19s cycles.

Seiffert's 6 over backward point off Lister this morning is funny. Seeing as it was aimed to go out to mid-wicket. https://scoring.nzc.nz/?tab=m_scorecard#m684653d5-bef0-4dd4-8f05-7562004db8ee
