    Herbert Sutcliffe vs Jack Hobbs

Truth is I don't know anything about Hobbs, in an "experiential" sense. Which is a part of what guides me in cricket, not just stats. But I do have this one place in the same match where I have video and my eyes showing Hobbs is clearly looking inferior to Sutcliffe. And that visual helps...

    Herbert Sutcliffe vs Jack Hobbs

Sutcliffe is better. Just look at the footage.

Who is the most intelligent bowler of all time?

Variation/length selection, especially of when to mix in the short ball. I know it's not as ***y as hitting the perfect off cutter after a few outswingers, but it's bowling intelligence nonetheless.

Better opener 1 : Boycott vs Hayden

All above listed are better than Boycott, except maybe Hobbs.

Who is the most intelligent bowler of all time?

Marshall, Steyn, smaller in size ATG bowlers. Also any ATG spinners, so Murali, Warne. Ashwin will of course always remind you of the size of his big brain.

    Graham Gooch vs Vernon Philander

Drop Border for Root, then team is better, + has English player.

    Graham Gooch vs Vernon Philander

    James Anderson.

Better opener : Gavaskar vs Cook

He was a gun like that.
  9. shortpitched713

    Graham Gooch vs Vernon Philander

Gooch over Philander is a laughable take, for me. Man had one great innings, and we can't stop riding his dick. Terrible analysis.
  10. shortpitched713

Better opener : Gavaskar vs Cook

For Tests only, not even close. Gavaskar by many miles.
  11. shortpitched713

    Virat Kohli vs Javed Miandad

This should be as one sided as the poll suggests.
  12. shortpitched713

    Graham Gooch vs Vernon Philander

Sounds like you are just filthy casul for picking anyone over Philander. :(

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

Even a top 6 bat putting in consistent shifts with the ball is very rare. Obviously it's a tradeoff I.e. more useful bat less useful bowler. Thing is, it's not rare for teams to have 1) a specialist level bowling all-rounder, putting in a full bowling shift on their team and averaging 20+ with...

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

They're both what I'd call "complete" all-rounders. Souped up Bothams, if you will. I'd say that Imran is just that slight bit more complete, solely on the basis of Miller's lowered bowling workrate. Imran should always come up trumps in an all-rounder comparison between the two, regardless of...

    Dale Steyn vs Muralitharan

Nah, SA weren't really a threat to that quality of Australia at any point during McGrath's career. I'd give the slight advantage to the on the wane Aus in this comparison, actually.

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

No one bit on this hot take, so I'll put some names: Greig over Mushtaq Mohammed Imran over Keith Miller Sober over Kallis (Kallis was a full time all-rounder, contrary to many peoples' belief, but damn was Sobers was a workhorse) Shakib over Faulkner (this one more stretch, but similar...

    Unpopular Cricket Opinions

The frequency of batting all-rounders who contribute meaningfully with the ball while maintaining a close to specialist average is exceedingly small. Some of the subset of them who have prettier averages don't really have the adequate bowling workloads, and hence impacts that stand up to scrutiny.

Shakib al Hasan vs Shaun Pollock (Tests)

Y'all didn't like the comparison with Faulkner, as he was too old. So here's the comparison I was going to be more interested in anyway.
