    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

I've seen enough in a few visits across the water (the Thames that is!) from where I work to have already known he was a top talent before his debut for England. Didn't know how fit for purpose though. I always thought Pope looked sublime when I watched him nearly 7 years ago, but as I've said...

Anyway it is apparently Jordan Cox as well as Ahmed, so not this time.

He doesn't have much of a defence period, but that defence is even more minimal against the spinners.

That's a good deal of my point really. If you have someone almost certain not to make runs, then after a while you have to consider your options here. To be fair, Pope got a ton first match in India but then did pretty much nothing for the rest of that series. He's been woeful in Pakistan, though.

If these two can stay in for a bit, surely Pakistan will have to try their other bowlers reasonably soon. I know the two finger spinners only jog in for a few yards but even so it must be a tough gig bowling 25+ overs on the spin, breaks or otherwise. I say this as a recreational tweaker who...

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

I certainly thought the Crawley and Pope dismissals were very mediocre when I watched the back end of the first hour and a little bit on. I was on my way to work by the time others were in but not surprised Stokes perished the way he did. I'm surprised that the innovative batting selections...

*Official* England in the West Indies 2024

Although I've watched a certain amount of the Pakistan series, not having TNT, and not really able to do overnights too well, I'm not going to bother with the NZ series. Might watch a bit of the Windies games in pubs of my knowledge that do show the cricket. A pub fairly near me certainly has a...

*Official* England in the West Indies 2024

Well he would struggle to get there for the first two games as the series is scheduled to finish on Monday, but an earlier post suggested that there were two players going from the test squad from Pakistan to the West Indies tour rather than to New Zealand. I was going by a bit of a process of...

    Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada stats: South Africa bowler takes 300th Test wicket, but how does he compare? - BBC Sport To me, I would still say he's behind Steyn and Donald in terms of quality. I think those bowlers did so much against the highest quality batters of their era. To me, Rabada is still very good...

Duckett doesn't convince me, but he averages over 40. I take your point though. The other 3 of the top 6 (including Stokes) really aren't reliable enough. You are going to get a lot of brainless dismissals and Pope in particular just has an awful defence when he starts up. The dismissal in the...

Fair play. I would always check what I could get independently before I go. Quite honestly, I often found that I would either recognise people from previous tours and end up having beers with them or that I knew people going anyway and we would meet up.

Apols, I don't know. Can I say that when I did a few trips abroad, and to be honest it is a fair few years ago now, they have become a glorified package holiday. I knew a fair few folk who were far better at finding cheaper flights and affordable hotels than what they were doing and some of...

I'm pretty sure Rehan Ahmed will join this series as I'd be amazed if he gets to tour NZ. Of the other test players, who knows, possibly Carse? But after his excellent and far from a*** two tests in Pakistan, surely they would want him for extra zip in NZ?

Last week's game was a bit of a case in point. Not much happened until the 2nd evening and then the pitch really started taking lots of spin. That said, I am still furious about Pope's shot in the first innings. It was rancid.

I'm guessing that quicks bowling two tests in a row there is seriously hard stuff in those conditions especially given what Pakistan have done.

In effect that is 1.5 seamers and 3 spinners. That does seem like a big risk to be honest. That said, you should fancy a big contribution from Leach to be at least reasonably consistent.

oh that’s correct with at least Netravalkar. He is an IT engineer. Probably others in the same boat as him.

I would rule out Mahmood, Archer, Robinson, Curran S, Worrall, Fisher, Cook and Porter immediately. Can't see the first two ever playing too much FC cricket again and the others are either too slow or just strange picks.

Sam Curran is an ok shout for the t20 side, but his bowling REALLY doesn't cut the mustard in ODIs.
