    ***Official English Football Season 2021/22***

It may not be the hardest task in the world, but why make the players who spend 99% of their training time to stop the ball entering the net have a go at putting it in? Just feels unfair on the players themselves to change their roles in the contest.

Yeah, I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with the current system. But the idea that teams can lose an important game because their goalkeeper can't take a penalty was part of the reason behind it. Stemmed from some talk about the systems in similar situations for ice hockey, where...

Most interesting new suggestion I saw elsewhere was to keep the shoot-out but let players take multiple attempts through the process with no restrictions. If you want to have the same taker for all 5 go for it. I couldn't fault the argument too much.

*Official* Road to 2022 World Cup

The proximity of the stadiums to each other has been a weird selling point for this World Cup. There's plenty of talk about how it'll be possible to see multiple games in a day, and even easier to attend games one day after the other. But they're seemingly still going to maintain a cap on the...

*Official* Road to 2022 World Cup

Honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't more. I thought the Champions League final that Wembley is due to host in a couple of years would've been in jeopardy as well.

Spurs were really, really awful. Did not look threatening all game. Palace played well and Gallagher in particular found spaces everywhere. With someone other than Benteke up front it might've been more comfortable, more quickly.

He was about the only player for Arsenal who looked like he was in danger of making a tackle. Far from defending him though, because it looked like he was ready to get himself sent off so he didn't have to stay our there and suffer with his teammates.

Honestly, clubs can have zero arguments about the number of games in international competition when club level tournaments like this are popping up. Even having and FA and League cup in most countries is too much I reckon.

    ***Official English Football Season 2021/22***

I thought the push was mostly from the clubs on the continent (the likes of PSG, Bayern, Real etc.) who are that dominant domestically that they are basically guaranteed qualification. Essentially proposing the Super League so they could earn EPL level money by having TV rights to sell. For the...

Isn't that line of thought what lead to the bigger European clubs trying to breakaway into the Super League?

    ***Official English Football Season 2021/22***

Yeah, I think every confederation other than Europe and South America have a process that involves the lower ranked nations playing each other first in order to qualify further. South America makes sense because of the amount of qualification places vs number of nations involved, but in Europe...

I just hope that some time in the next year or two he goes to one that's a little bit more dominant than Newcastle are. I'd love to see what he could do with a bit more service. I don't mean a top 4 side though, because I agree that they'd probably try to coach a lot of his habits out of him.

Yeah, definitely not a pen and from what I've read about the changes to VAR it really felt like one of the types of challenges they were looking to allow again. A much better game than I was expecting, Saint-Maximin looked like he was doing motion capture for skill moves in FIFA at some points.

Yeah, absolutely. I missed the pregame, so I've no idea about fitness issues, but even an underdone Bellerin was surely worth a start over Chambers. Saka is the other one I'm scratching my head about. Xhaka had his 4/5 good games for the year in the Euros as well, he's been awful so far.

Tierney the only defender at that end of the park who looks comfortable at all. Even when Arsenal have the ball, Mari in particular looks like he's always uncertain about who he should be looking to move the ball to.

Final: England v Italy (In London, England)

If only there was a betting market for it. Really bad look for England as a host these last couple of games.

Final: England v Italy (In London, England)

I honestly think it was their game plan from the start with this formation. The early goal was a bonus. They would've taken being even at this stage and now we'll see the likes of Grealish or Sancho given a run.

Final: England v Italy (In London, England)

Rice had about 3 attempts at fouling Chiesa in the lead up to his effort, really thought it could've come back for a card. Literally swung a kick at his ankles once he broke away more cleanly.

Final: England v Italy (In London, England)

Italy did an absolutely awful job of defending that.
