Unfortunately seems like 2023 India is very far ahead at youth level.
It hasn't been close at any point. England looked like they might make a useful total halfway through their innings, but then collapsed. They've just not been challenged by anyone and are streets ahead.

Probably not much between Eng, Aus, SA and SL (who were unlucky drawing India in opening group but proved they were one of the next best teams).

The question is whether they can turn this dominance into the full Women's Team in the coming years, seems to be where the problem lies. I guess they may also have been suited by these wickets too.

They have dominated 2023 and 2025. Only losing one game. 2023 wasn't spin dominated as far as I recall. Others have lots of catching up to do.

Will see if they can close the gap at the top level.

I'm actually a bit fumed at a couple of selections for this squad. I don't mind Illing: she's an exciting player & a left armer, I understand her selection.
However, I don't understand the selection of McLeod - there are already 3 openers in the squad, do we really need a 4th? And Sharp for the T20 squad? FFS. She doesn't even average 12 & barely averaged 13 this Super Smash. How tf can you justify this? Meanwhile, better players are doing their darndest to smash the door down & scream for selection (cough cough, Caitlin Gurrey). I was optimistic that things would change, but clearly it's back to the same old vibesy nonsense.

Yeah, happy that Illing has been called up and it's good to see Plimmer back from injury, but there's a lot to be pretty grumpy about in the rest of that squad. Do we really need to be going back to Jensen again?

Feel for Gurrey and also Watkin. I don't know what more they need to do (I guess there's a perceived fitness issue with Watkin, but still).

At this point, I don't know what Gurrey has to do to get a call up. It's so frustrating to watch, it actually makes me angry that they keep snubbing one of the best bats we've got, & looking at those they select instead, it just makes you angry. It's crap like this that drives me to believe that White Ferns HQ is filled with idiots, T20WC or not.
In fact, winning that T20WC has probably emboldened them on the stupid selections.

Maddy Green scores a ton - a sensational ton, according to NZC - and we see exactly two shots, the ones she got to 50 and 100 with, in the highlights? NZ scores 246 yet basically none of their boundaries are shown?

It beggars belief how **** organisations do highlights nowadays

Thank goodness for TVNZ+. I wish they'd broadcast some of these HLs, though, even if it was in the middle of the night. This is probably more of a general complaint about TVNZ & their sports offerings. I don't know if it's streaming rights only that they've got, but surely they could show some of what they've got on TV, even if it's just Duke.

Four T20I debuts for the White Ferns at Hagley tonight. Will be interesting to see how all the newbies go.

...but it was all downhill from there. Pretty dreadful performance from us. Class from Chamari in the chase, as usual.

What a difference a few days can make - much better all-round performance today.

So did NZ just bat way too slowly or bowl rubbish? You really shouldn't be setting a target only 2 wickets down and getting blown away like that.
