    Hobbs was indeed ancient. In the sense that I imagine the videos of him batting came post-war, when he was 40 going on 50. Yet at this advanced age, he was still the best or second best batsman on the planet.

    Hopefully the last we ever see of Stead's remarkable Canterbury bias, but to play devil's advocate, Nicholls does have the stand-out career Ford Trophy record, averaging 48. IMO, still a bad selection over Bruce, Schmulian, or Dale Phillips probably stemming from WoOoOoOoO experience WoOoOoOoO.

    It'd be touch and go. Fleming's 14-year career was 111 tests and looking at Katich's FC career span, he'd probably be around in tests for about 13 years. He definitely makes it for England though. Katich did manage 56 tests for Australia, after all.
