Hammond also seems underrated a bit with the ball. Picked 50 wickets in 34 Test. WPM 1.47 in the flattest era. Not sure whether wet wickets supported him. Sobers took 36 Test. Among great Batting All rounders only Kallis has done better in 28 Tests...in bowlers era , easy home conditions although shareing wicket tally with Donald and Pollock.
His bowling only declined in 1938 when he was 34 and after the war he rarely did bowl. That is why WPM less than 1.
