    2024–25 NZ domestic season

I think if you picked a random cricket team in New Zealand they'd probably fare better against Jeet Raval than whatever the **** this is. Foxcroft is absolutely steaming.

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

I have a feeling this match was brought up a couple of years back, but what a crazy game. Duffy (3–19) and Hampton's debut, 13 years ago: https://archive.nzc.nz/Scorecards/349/349227.html Williamson and Southee opening the batting and bowling, an absurdly deep ND batting lineup, a diamond...

    2024–25 NZ domestic season

Based on his economy and his wickets, it looks like Tickner got it on a dime today (and this match). Can't extrapolate very much from one match, but I wish we actually picked players in their prime rather than putting them in a year-long queue by the end of which they're crap again.

    Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

This but unironically. Ironing out his problems with starting, he should've averaged 130.

His smashing Hazeldine for 20 in an over was rather fitting.

    Dennis Lillee vs Jasprit Bumrah

Wrong. A carton of eggs is an extremely inaccurate representation of the wider egg population.

When does “modern day cricket” start for you?

If you're dividing test cricket into "old" and "modern" portions, World War I is a sensible divide. If you're simply saying "modern test cricket" without context, then it refers to the past 5–10 years.

    All-Time New Zealand XIs - A re-run

    That's a strangely batting-heavy side.

Chapman has been class for the past year or so... hmm... ever since he turned 30. 🤔

    *Official* Pakistan in New Zealand

This is a very interesting side. A bowler light than expected. I guess comparisons can be made between Abbas' role in this match and the troll that was Ravindra the bowling all-rounder, but Abbas is still slated to bat ahead of Hay. It will be really interesting to see how his mediums, which...

Wagner still playing county. Guess he has to want a little crack at 1000 FC wickets. Fitting that he's playing as ND's spinner in his last game.

    Murali/Sanga vs Warne/S Waugh

Good question IMO. Warne clearly must have chucked it to get that much spin with such accuracy, so Murali it is.

Bradman & Zaheer Khan vs Hobbs & Marshall

Obviously based on pure skill Ponting > Hobbs or whatever. But considering that question is the most boring thing there is in this forum, which is saying something given the existence of the Statham v Sehwag thread. Bradman would average less than 99 in any era since his time, but that doesn't...

Bradman & Zaheer Khan vs Hobbs & Marshall

Hobbs was indeed ancient. In the sense that I imagine the videos of him batting came post-war, when he was 40 going on 50. Yet at this advanced age, he was still the best or second best batsman on the planet.

Bradman & Zaheer Khan vs Hobbs & Marshall

I presume Khan, but my first instinct was that this is referring to Zaheer Abbas.

Hopefully the last we ever see of Stead's remarkable Canterbury bias, but to play devil's advocate, Nicholls does have the stand-out career Ford Trophy record, averaging 48. IMO, still a bad selection over Bruce, Schmulian, or Dale Phillips probably stemming from WoOoOoOoO experience WoOoOoOoO.
