Players who would have had better careers for different countries

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
This is not in reference to cricket infrastructure and quality of set up. More in reference to playing In a different country's conditions and in a different team set up.

First name that comes to mind is Kapil Dev who would have been regarded much higher as a bowling AR if he played for England.

If Kohli had played for Australia, would his downfall be as clearly visible as now?

Indian pitches definitely played a major role in bringing his average down.

Just throwing around a possibility.

let's throw out an obvious one.

If Lance Gibbs played alongside the Quaret on Indian wickets or alongside Laker/Lock on English pitches, he'd find a lot more success than he already did.
Depends if we take their stats at face value and translate that to how much they would play in countries for that other team or try and assume **** about how good they’d be if they grew up in the other country which is dumb and impossible imo.

So no, Kapil would be **** as an English AR.

I don’t think so. As I’ve stated before he was quite lucky, his peak came over a very short period where Zimbabwe played a lot of tests, compared to the rest of his career, so significantly affected his record more.

Tamim Iqbal has done really well in NZ and in a couple of Tests in England. I think he'd have a better record if he got to play more regularly as he could then capitalize on his many periods of good form.

Put him in the England team and he'd be playing alongside Cook. That would potentially have benefited both of them.

Martin Crowe if he'd been Australian. Wouldn't have debuted at 19 did like he did as a Kiwi, and would've had access to the best rehab/orthopaedic surgeons etc. for knee rehab. Probably would've played until the end of the 90s and finished with stats similar or better to/than Border and Steve Waugh.

If Hadlee plays for Australia he might not debut as early but assuming his health remained the same he plays more tests in 80’s than in his whole NZ. Probably ends up playing another 25-30 tests. Might’ve still held the pace record til Anderson.

International Debutant
Carl Hooper had a middling career for WI but was superb for Kent. But then England in the 80s and 90s were a nightmare.

Babar Azam, if he would have played for India then he wouldn't have trolled as zimbabar by a massive population of india.
And he would have performed better.

Simon Katich probably a 100 test match player for New Zealand
It'd be touch and go. Fleming's 14-year career was 111 tests and looking at Katich's FC career span, he'd probably be around in tests for about 13 years.

He definitely makes it for England though. Katich did manage 56 tests for Australia, after all.
