  • You definitely need to see Sopranos and The Wire. IMO, the two greatest TV dramas of all time, not just the last 25 years. I'd say start with the Sopranos and then watch The Wire next.
Yeah Theon seems to be getting his mojo back. I have a feeling he’s going to find a way to redeem himself before all is said and done. I think he regrets betraying the Starks and probably feels everything that’s happened to him since is punishment from the Gods. I definitely don’t think Jon is dead, he will fulfill the prophecy. Also don’t expect Daenerys is going to die. I think she will eventually be the victor (with Jon on her side as one of the heads of her 3 dragons) over Stannis, the Lannisters, and all other claimants to the throne.
I did! I don't know how I'm going to wait the 3 to 20 years it will take him to write the whole thing. :-(

What did you think of it?
Haha, you dream very high dude. Well here's hoping this dream of yours comes true! :-)
Haha, keep in mind that I was 15 when Imran retired, and even younger when he was at his peak. I did watch him live and have seen countless videos of him bowling though. He could swing the bowl both ways but his in-swinger was his deadliest weapon. I’m sure you’ve seen highlights of him shattering many stumps with that delivery! He also had a mean bouncer in his arsenal that, combined with his pace, was hard to defend. He was an all-time great bowler because he was fast, bowled with control and variation, and could swing the ball very late.

I don’t know why we don’t have as many fast bowlers as before. Perhaps because of the amount of cricket that’s played at different levels? In the past, bowlers only played Test cricket & had to learn to become complete bowlers to survive series after series of bowling to high quality batsmen. Perhaps the bowlers just don’t have the chance to hone their skills playing Test cricket and are pulled in too many different directions.
Right there with you man. Too bad we didn't play the actual series or we could've enjoyed a 10-0 complete whitewash tour! Ah well, next time. :p
Thanks for the compliment :). I'm just someone who enjoys studying all of those subjects, just a natural love of learning new things I guess. Sometimes just picking up a book and reading it through because I feel like it. I've taken classes in all those (to varying degrees) at uni, but a lot of it is self taught in addition to that.
Yeah I read up on this on pakpassion. I repeat: it will be a TERRIBLE idea. Even if they are merely "resting" Misbah, it will send a confusing signal to the players/fans and will surely cause controversy when it's time for Misbah to return from the rest. Besides, the captaincy is not the problem that needs fixing here, it's the (fast) bowling and crap batting.
Cheers mate. KP's innings was a joy to watch. England win and 50 for Afridi - doesn't get better than that!
We did produce two world class fast bowlers. They both ended up in jail. No one has an unlimited supply of those types of bowlers. I'm afraid we'll have to make do with less than legendary for now. I'm all for trying new bowlers, but we can't just go into matches with total inexperience either. We tried the Cheema's and the Junaid Khan's without too much success already. At least Gul has a track record and comes up with a decent performance every once in a while. I'm ok with pairing him with a youngster. It just depends on team balance though. It's hard to pick a second seamer in UAE. With our weak batting, it seems like a waste to pick a second seamer over a specialized batsman or a spin all-rounder. See, that's where the crap batting lineup is such a weakness. It's causing us to be wary of selecting a young fast bowler, as well as an adequate WK.
Yeah it's really disappointing. We obviously have huge holes in the ODI team atm. I wouldn't get rid of Gul. Who's out there than you can conclusively state is better? Plus, it's not just the fast bowling we have to worry about, it's also the batting. Along with our usual inconsistent opening issues, we have a weak to crap middle/late order. Those issues are going to get you beat 9 times out of 10.
Could you check the Militant Secularism thread. I wouldn't normally rush people to do so, but the ability to delete posts is for a limited time. Oh and sorry, I've always read your name as "Aussie Nationaux"
I ****ing love him. Didn't always, warmed to him over the years and then the T20 WC over here won me over like nothing else. Hope he visits here again at some point.
Haha, I would officially lose all hope for Pakistan if Afridi was a legitimate contender to become the PM. Good on him for doing the anti-drug campaign. He can be most effective there, not in politics.
Haha cheers mate. Should be a good series and it's perfect for me as we see my favourite team against
my favourite ever non England player
(Part 3) MLB is the "main" league that signifies the highest quality. Each MLB team has its own "minor league" system. Basically, the MLB team has a partnership with the minor league team to grow and train their up and coming players. Think of the Minor Leagues as baseball's "domestic" league. Keep in mind though that there are several different "levels" in the minor leagues (each MLB team has several different minor league teams). Players progress from the lowest to the highest according to their performance and finally make it to the MLB level if they are good enough. The MLB team can call up any player it wants from any of its minor league teams. Generally speaking, they can also "demote" a player from their MLB team back to a minor league team (there are a few exceptions based on contracts etc that would allow the player to reject the demotion and become a free agent).

Does that answer your question? Why the curiosity about baseball, if you don't mind me asking?
