He's bought hardly any Englishmen if you look over his whole career and compare to how many foreigners he's bought. He ends up then selling nearly all the English players on anyway, usually after he doesn't give them a chance to do anything.
really? Richard Wright - given nearly an entire seasons worth of games in the absence of seaman, continued to underperform and so was sold. Francis Jeffers - similar to Wright, given a long run of games in the side but failed to perform and so was sold again. Jermaine Pennant was given plenty of chances but his off the field behaviour meant that he wasnt deserving to stay at the club and so was rightfully sold. Ray Parlour - played a huge amount of games under wenger, one of his favourite players. Sol Campbell - requested to leave after playing regularly for several seasons, nothing to do with wenger. Ashley Cole - mixture of all the above. Not like he hasnt given chances to engslih players really.

Richard Wright was given 12 games... although with your maths skills you might actually consider that 'an entire seasons worth of games'. Similarly Jeffers played 22 games over two seasons (a few of those may well be as sub). Jermain Pennant played 12 games (scored 3 goals, again some may be as sub) over 6 years for the CDMs and was loaned out a lot of the time - he played 38 games for Birmingham in his season there. Given CDMs chief has been at the CDMs for 10 years and you can only come up with those 6 I think it shows how little he bothers with English players. Look at how many games guys like Cygan have played (63) when he's clearly crap.

Jeffers was given plenty of chances, as was Wright and both continued to play poorly and were clearly not up to standard, granted Richard Wright didnt get as much as i previously said, but the fact that he was dropped in favour of another english player Stuart Taylor who also was given a run of at least that many games shows that his performance was poor, Taylor left as it was deemed unfair to keep him as a sub and thus preventing the development of his career, that said he now reguarly sits on the bench for villa and his replacement at arsenal is clearly not up to scratch. But yesterday Theo Walcott and Justin Hoyte were given chances, other players throughout the division were given their chance by wenger, jerome thomas for example played several games for arsenal before moving to become a regular at charlton, stephen huges albeit not in the premiership any more but rather at coventry i believe was also given his chance by wenger..list goes on...wenger has certainly given plenty of chances to english players..the fact that they have often not made the grade is not his fault.

Err no it doesnt.

Wikipedia on Jerome Thomas: A highly rated youngster, he was unable to break into Arsenal's first team, and after a few appearances in the Football League Cup and a couple of loan spells at Queens Park Rangers, he joined Charlton in February 2004. Initially a loan signing, he has developed into a key part of Charlton's first team since making the move permanent. He plays in shirt number 14 and in position left winger

As for Hughes most of his appearances were as a substitute.

Wright - 12 league games. May I remind you an entire season is 38 long, so not only is that nowhere near "nearly an entire seasons worth of games", it's less than a third. Doesn't help that he's constantly crocked.
You fail to mention that of all of these chances Jeffers was given, only 13 were starts compared to 26 substitute appearances. He only started 4 league games - how was he supposed to make an impact? In the one competition were he was actually given a run of starts, the FA cup, he scored 3 goals in 7 starts and a sub appearance, a better rate than the Everton performances that made Wenger pay £8 million for him (which happened to be about £7 mil more than he was worth). He did as well as a boy (only 20 when Wenger bought him) who had acheived little, yet had the weight of a huge transfer fee to live up to, bought because Arsenal didn't score enough "dirty goals" and tagged "the fox in the box" - meaning the rest of the Arsenal team play their "beautiful football" and Jeffers lives on the scraps, and who rarely ever started started a game, could be expected to, I think.
Similarly, Pennant only started 12 games (8 of which were in the Worthington/Carling/Whatever it's called Cup) and came off the bench 14 times. Hardly "plenty of chances" when spread over the course of 3 seasons. He played the same number of games for Birmingham in the 4 months after signing as he did for Arsenal in the 6 and a half seasons after signing (although he did sign for Arsenal at 15).

Aye it's official, CDMs' chief is a xenophobe. I'll just call him CDMs' X from now on, less typing and all that.

That's such crap it's hardly worth responding to, but anyway I will rise to the bait.

Doesn't anyone think there's some kind of cause & effect in operation here? Franny Jeffers (for example) looked to be a promising striker, was overpriced (probably by a virtue of his being English), didn't make the progress he could've done (as has since been proved by his general arseness at Rangers, Everton & Charlton) & was let go. Are you seriously suggesting he should've been played ahead of (say) Wiltord because he's English? That's no way to run a football team; Wenger has no de facto duty to develop players for the FA.

Same with Bentley; decent player but wasn't going to be selected ahead of Pires or Ljungberg when they were available. He was loaned out to get first team experience &, when he had some success, Blackburn made an offer.

Some of them have arguably turned to crap because they don't get the opportunity in the first place, rather than just being crap and so not getting the opportunities.

You haven't had one of those in months. The performance against Greece would have plenty enough to have beaten Portugal on either occasion.
Erm no, it wouldn't.

For a start it wouldn't have scored a goal against them, hence the best would've been 0-0, and penalties, but I guess with McLaren in charge all of a sudden the penalty takers would've been brilliant...

All it would have taken to have beaten Portugal with that set of players was real attacking intent, England had that in the first half against Greece, it was a bit scruffy at times but then this is McLaren's first game in charge.

You what?

For all this "attacking intent" none of the goals would've happened if Greece's defenders had shown up.

Without a goal, the game was 0-0 at best or a defeat - hence it wouldn't have beaten a far better side than Greece were.

Scaly, Wenger plays and buys foreigners because they're better than a player for the same price who's english.

Not because he's some kind of raging xenophobe (unlike some people, who dislike people because of their nationality)

How about throwing Stephen Hughes into the mix.

Im not going to accuse anyone at Arsenal of being anti-English, as its a pretty dramatic conculsion to jump to, but he has a poor record of giving English players opportunities and buying them.

At the end of the day if he was successful doing it then whats the problem.

Ask marc; he was at Cov the last I heard.

The way his career has panned out I think it's fair to say we saw the best of him at Arsenal. IIRC yer Toffees let him go on a free. Petit>>>Hughes & that's what it boiled down to.

Wenger plays Englishmen if they're good enough; he sold two international-class left-backs (Van Bronckhorst & Silvinho) on the strength of Cashley being the real deal. Shame he's such a perfidious little (non-) poove. Allegedly.
