Liverpool top of the table atm. They'll be lucky if they get to be in that spot again in the season.

i think its a little tooo early for that comment.....considering we only won 1 out of our last 6 first up last year and finished 9 points behind chelsea last year.

our 2 early injuries didnt help our cause either tonight. riise and carragher both gone very early.

Yet you haven't moaned about the England manager.

Funny that...
It was a friendly, England were winning 4-0 at half time... unlike someone with 44,717 posts I don't complain for the sake of it.

The time to complain is if he's completely wasted the best squad of players England have ever had and made them play atrocious, spiritless and negative rubbish which has caused them to be knocked out by an even more atrocious team twice in succession.

Yet again blaming Eriksson for injuries and other things completely out of his control.

England on Wednesday night were just the same as they were before the world cup.

Before the World Cup you moaned after every game and blamed Eriksson for it.
After Wednesday night, not a single moan...

The vegetable knocked England out of the 2004 European Championships and the 2006 World Cup. Fact.

Any competent manager would have got England through those games, because Portugal were complete rubbish.

Any group of compentent penalty takers would have got England through those games.

Of course crap ref + Rooney didn't help in those games.

Anyone who watches the slightest bit of football would know England don't have competent penalty takers. They do however have a very good set of players with which any decent manager should have been easily enough to beat a completely toothless and mediocre Portugal side.

Anyway would be hilarious if the CDMs lose today... edit: Figures the scum would equalise.

Precisely my point, but of course some people cannot see that and prefer to attack the Swede, yet strangely don't attack the Englishman for similar performances...

I'm pretty sure most of the penalty takers for England would be competent ...if our footballers weren't a group of overpaid, overrated, spoiled chokers who really wouldn't give two ***** about if he scored or missed because, either way, he'd make an extra couple of million off the back of his book three months later.

Yeah, I never knew footballers were such verbose people. Every footballer these days has written an autobiographical account. From Rooney to Lampard.

You haven't had one of those in months. The performance against Greece would have plenty enough to have beaten Portugal on either occasion. What's the point in playing negative rubbish against a side as bad as Portugal so that it ends up going to penalties where everyone knows we're almost certain to lose? It's like sitting back and defending when you're losing 1-0.

"Scum", thats a little harsh, they play good football, don't have a ridiculously rich owner, not a local rival of yours. Is it just them having a lot of foreigners makes them "scum".

anywhoo City win, and a fellow son of Brian Boru scores the winner against the green slime, I'm very happy:cool:

Just ignore the xenophobe.

Slow start for us, but most of the team have been playing all summer (or just sitting in Germany).

Nice result for Reading today I see.

Well you've got the manager who lies repeatedly in every interview and given the players he's bought and sold if he was on this forum he'd be called racist or xenophobe every few minutes. You've got the majority of their players who are blatant cheats, including the chief poseur who was one of the worst cheats in the World Cup. So they're hardly a nice bunch are they?

umm, this makes no sense, Wengers bought many Englishmen, Walcott, Jeffers, Wright et cetera, they've often not been very good though.

The rest of your whines could be appropriated amongst all the top managers and players in the Premier league. Mancscum and Chelsea managers and players are much worse, and Gerrard dives like Louganis, but with more artistic merit marks. Ronaldo doesn't play for the **** does he?

So call them all scum if thats your reasons, actually you'd probably have a point, but you seem to reserve your ire for one team, its quite perplexing.

Still don't know what CDM means, I'm sure it couldn't be applied to any other prem team though.

He's bought hardly any Englishmen if you look over his whole career and compare to how many foreigners he's bought. He ends up then selling nearly all the English players on anyway, usually after he doesn't give them a chance to do anything.

Great opening day for the South Coast's only Premiership club - a brilliant 3-0 victory over a Blackburn side of whom I expected better things. Sol Campbell in a Pompey shirt - loving it already. :)

Yeah it was an impressive effort, if you guys get Martins then a top 10 would be a real chance.

But what about Reading, 2-0 down to come back to win 3-2 :-O
