Overrated/Underrated

The greatest left arm pace bowler of the modern era, his not overrated all the acclaim he has received over the years has been just. Thought his batting was very underrated, given a situation or more reasonability and he usually excelled but most of the time he did not take his batting as seriously as one with such an eye and hitting strength should.

Underrated - a test batting average close to 40, bowling average under 35 and more catches than matches in test cricket. Perhaps didn't convert enough fifties to hundreds but a good all-round cricketer.
so I didn't think there was any need to repost something I had already posted recently.

Anyway on Azrar Mahmood - rated right. Never really did enough at test level to warrant great accolades but still a useful bits and pieces player.

Over rated- As an Odi batsman.

Underrated- As a test batsman and as an odi bowler.

Hmmm, tricky one. Probably underrated as a general one-day cricketer. Decent strokeplaying bat and useful medium pace. But troubled times in Zimbabwe have probably ended his international career.

looked pretty flat to me the only time in saw him in Chennai 2001 vs Australia.

Underrated especially as a bowler. To average just over 20 is magnificent. Definately doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Also a handy batsman and a good fielder.

No worries. It wasn't aimed specifically at you. Just in general at the posts like:

"Under-rated... because he's awesome!"

Rightly rated, acknowleged as a great without being considered a legend in Sobers or Imraan class and his record proves it.Over rated as a commentator.

Underrated a quality batsman who averaged over 45. Very good conversion rate from 5o's to 100's and did realy well in ODI's to score four centuris in just eighteen matches.

That's a tricky one. If you look at his record then you might say he is over rated as he averages over 30,but the one thing we all have to agree is that Qadir revived the dying art of leg-spin bowling aside from the fact he was a definate match winner on his day. I would say rightly rated.

Under-rated I guess compared to the likes of Richards, Lara, Walcott, Weekes, Sobers and he has a fine record and I remember when Ramnaresh Sarwan first came onto the scene he was compared to Rohan Kanhai in the style he bats. Well that's what Richie Benaud said, whether you agree or not is different.

I don't know of anyone who rates him....

As such I'll have to say he's rated just right. Granted, I haven't seen him recently but he looked utterly hopeless against accurate fast bowling.

Rated about right.

Obviously he did not try his all in every County game but on his day was one of the best and he was very dangerous when angry.
Holding rates him as one of the 5 best ever and lots of others speak very highly.

Underrated - A very good bowling record, averaged under 30, took over 4 wickets a match and a good economy rate.

I can think of several New Zealanders who rate him. Practically anyone who have seen him play this year (bar this India series) would have to be impressed with him.

Tests in 2006: 69, 7, 70*
ODIs in 2006: 0, 39, 58, 110*, 22, 0, 16, 79, 109, 23, 1, 0

That's certainly not hopeless. 8-)

He's also as good as any catcher in the world right now.

Craig

He said he was hopless against accurate fast bowling, not hopeless in general as you have implied.
