Ha ha. He has already accepted that it was wrong to impose that restriction. Leave him alone.Shahid Afridi is under 1 wpm. Vettori is 1.03 wpm

Ok I haven't read the entire thread.Ha ha. He has already accepted that it was wrong to impose that restriction. Leave him alone.
I agree >20 is low but if Kapil made #3 with a 23.79 batting average then that low bar has already been set. Hadlee's 21.61 batting is not that far off Kapil and he's a much greater bowler to offset the batting difference.I think a batting average of >20 is setting a rather low bar. Having said that, Kapil Dev made the list with an average <25
The events of 1 Feb, 1981 make him ineligible for this poll.Seeing votes for Viv Richards I thought I'd look up Greg Chappell. Turns out Chappell has a fantastic ODI allrounder record, albeit only 74 matches
Chappell: 2331 runs @ 40.18, 3 hundreds, 14 fifties, 72 wkts @ 29.12, econ 4.04, SR 43.1, 2-5W
I think a knock off effect from his Test recordDunno why Chris Cairns is getting so many votes. There are several NZ allrounders better than or equal to him (Harris, Oram, Santner, Hadlee, Styris, and Astle) as well as Phillips and M Bracewell, although the latter two probably haven't played enough.
It's not a "captaincy" or "spirit of cricket" pollThe events of 1 Feb, 1981 make him ineligible for this poll.
Yes, but Harris scored 130 against Australia in 96 WC and was a better bowler and fielder than Cairns.Cairns deserves a mention due to the 2000 CT
Yeah I remember being a bit surprised by this a few years back. He was the #1 ODI allrounder in the ICC rankings for much of his career.Seeing votes for Viv Richards I thought I'd look up Greg Chappell. Turns out Chappell has a fantastic ODI allrounder record, albeit only 74 matches
Chappell: 2331 runs @ 40.18, 3 hundreds, 14 fifties, 72 wkts @ 29.12, econ 4.04, SR 43.1, 2-5W
My mandatory post whenever someone underestimates Kapil as ODI all rounderI think a batting average of >20 is setting a rather low bar. Having said that, Kapil Dev made the list with an average <25
For players like Cairns and Pandya (who I think will also be mentioned if another list is made 4-5 year from now ),stats don’t tell the full story. Cairns was a massive power hitter who opposition feared .Dunno why Chris Cairns is getting so many votes. There are several NZ allrounders better than or equal to him (Harris, Oram, Santner, Hadlee, Styris, and Astle) as well as Phillips and M Bracewell, although the latter two probably haven't played enough.
Imo in ODIs you should also consider SR for openers and lower order batsmen .Fun Fact: overall ODI batting average is 28.10
Doesn't that mean someone averaging ~23 could be called a below average bat![]()
Funnily enough I don't rate Kapil's batting because of having to live through the career of another player who averaged 23.xxI think an average of ~23.8 is absolutely acceptable, for reasons that don't relate to Kapil Dev.
