Don't get how Imran>Ambrose is controversial really.
Ambrose barely played outside Aus, Eng & WI.
Never played in Ind.
1 Tests in SL.
2 Tests in NZ.
4 Tests in SA.
5 Tests in Pak.

Just like a spinner’s greatness is tested outside Asia, a fast bowler’s greatness in tested in Asian pitches and Sir Curtly didn’t play much here

On top of that, Ambrose IMO didn't have the skillet to adapt in SC conditions with cutters or reverse, especially once his pace left him which was half his career.

I am not sure if it makes any sense - Dale Steyn had higher highs but also lower lows than McGrath.

On his best day he can destroy an attack and take pitch out of the equation much more easily but oh boy on his bad days he could leak lots of runs

Did he though?

McGrath had 2 8’fers to Steyn’s 0

10 of McGrath’s 29 5’fers were 6+ wicket hauls, vs 7 of Steyn’s 26.
