10th Match - Afghanistan v Australia

Qlder

International Regular
It's an Australia must win game as if they lose to Afghanistan they are likely knocked out even if England beat South Africa (as SA NRR far too good)

Whereas a washout will lock Australia into a semi. Hoping for rain

Not a good outcome for the tournament with 2 out of 7 matches in Pakistan abandoned without a ball bowled. What's the weather like for this match, will it be 3 out of 8 abandoned?

This is really close to call. Regardless of the dew and the rain around, think batting first is the best chance for Aus. Afg seem to thrive on putting runs on the board and squeezing the chasing side with their spin

It would be quite funny to see Australia lose here and their supporters having to suddenly cheer for England
Would never happen. If Afg beat Aus then Eng would have to beat SA by a huge margin for Aus to better SA run rate. England are more likely to need 20 runs to win and take 20 overs to get them just to screw Ausralia over 😉

Cricinfo saying it's dry in Lahore alternating between overcast and sunny but no rain

Bring it on, winner to semi-final, loser is out (if Aus lose they ain't beating SA NRR)

What if, for instance SA are bowled out for 180(unlikely as it seems) and England chase it down in 25-30 overs?
No chance of that happening but even if it did why would England do that, they'd slow down to make sure Australia were knocked out. Doesn't matter anyway as Aus are going to lock in their semi here

I would love to see Afghanistan cause another upset but I think they will find it tougher against Australia than they did against England.
