I am serious, i just saw a highlight of ind vs wi odi 1997 , thought it was a test match. No lord smith plays t20 with read ball
Walsh?Extended list can have,
Lilee
Marshall
Hadlee
Ambrose
McGrath
Steyn
Bumrah
+
IK
Donald
Pollock
Wasim
Cummins
It's not a ranking of bowlers.
Walsh vs Wasim Akram who is better?Cheating to lose is infinitely worse to me
I don't think you need to only see BGT to compare them. Bumrah has clearly broken away and ahead as the best in his generation.Yes bumrah and cummins are going head to head and so far bumrah leads 2-1. Would intresting to see who leads after next round ie 2027 bgt in india
Akram comfortablyWalsh vs Wasim Akram who is better?
I was trying to list for best candiates. Walsh was never seen as the best any time. Wasim was closer to that than Walsh despite not being best any time himself.Walsh?
2000s everyone else is just worse. If only one decade for each pacer, then Steyn is definitely in the 10s. So that leaves Akhtar who actually has a great record (even against India, that Test is probs most famous for his 2 wickets of Dravid and Sachin) but was very injury prone and hardly played regularly or someone like NtiniWrote roberts but changed my mind at last minute. Akthar was incredibly inconsistent. Had bad records vs two best batting sides in Australia and india
This was the approach adopted by Simon Wilde in his book Number One, published in 1997. Using a good mix of contemporary opinion and stats he listed the world's leading batsmen and bowlers, looking to establish long reigns over a significant period. He also took all formats into account. For example, his list of bowlers for the 25 years between 1972 and 1997 was as follows:No point in looking at smaller chunks like 2 years or 3 years. Then you will start finding that XYZ was rank 1 for 1-2 years. Best bowlers shoudl have good over all records ( home, away, against top teams, against top teams away). Last one(away agasint top teams) only tier 1 pacers will have.
Is it true that Walsh has one of best record in Asia?Akram comfortably
Anderson has good/great record in asia , so is it fair to call him a home bully?I don't think you need to only see BGT to compare them. Bumrah has clearly broken away and ahead as the best in his generation.
Away record against non-minnows,

Difference is not due to Bumrah bowling in more pacer friendly away conditions. Bumrah is outbowling Cummins in Asia and even in his home grounds.

We can see that Bumrah is outbowling Cummins as all condition bowler and also against top sides despite Cummins playing lots of home tests. For all practical puposes, you can remove Cummins from the list you were making for best bowlers. Cummins is second for sure, but not really close or going toe to toe. You can do the same for other generations to pick the best.
All he needs to do is get to 300 wickets just to cross only barrier between him and 2nd greatest fast bowler title. Fingers crossed that he does get to 300 wicketsI don't think you need to only see BGT to compare them. Bumrah has clearly broken away and ahead as the best in his generation.

2nd greatest.?All he needs to do is get to 300 wickets just to cross only barrier between him and 2nd greatest fast bowler title. Fingers crossed that he does get to 300 wickets
Yeah Walsh's India record specifically is Great. Can't say the same for him in Australia though. Is it true that Walsh has one of best record in Asia?
Lets see2nd greatest.?
Not sure 300 wickets is enough to put him above McGrath and Marshal.
Wasim falls short of McGrath when you look his record against stronger sides in 90s. I know some posters will say this team was close to that team, but top 5 W/L is a reasonable cut off when we are talking about 7-8 non-minnow test teams. Over all trend against top teams is captured well with top 5 in W/L.Wasim over McGrath for the 90s
Even in his peak, Anderson was not that great away against top teams. In the same period, he was going great at home against same teams.Anderson has good/great record in asia , so is it fair to call him a home bully?
He was not.Maybe 83? But Marshall also was going great guns and was imran universally rated as best?

Steyn...Nah Ambrose is easily better than 90s Warne and McGrath than Murali
anyway
70s Lillee
80s Marshall
90s Ambrose
2000s McGrath
2010s is weird
2020s is Bumrah
