That’s why I compared him with a cricketer who had arguably the best peak(overall numbers) and a similar decline.Kohli is always going to be hard to rate and compare with other greats given the massive contrast between his good and bad phases.
Waqar is a top 10 Asian cricketer. I think he edges Kohli frankly.Kohli hasn't fallen this far yet
Ok but Waqar was still reasonably good outside his peak. Kohli has been averaging 30 for the last five years which plain bad as a top bat.I don't think it's easy to comapre batsman with bowler, but in this case, I will look at how long both were world class.
20 tests for Waqar when he was world class: Performance was actually hgher level , but it started and ended here.
Waqar has ZERO 5-fers against non-minnows outside of this period.

Kohli was world class for 75 tests: He has some tons outside of this peruod, but I don't see him as world class outside of this period.

Wasqar and Kohli , both are not world class outside of this period. Yes, Kohli got some tons outside of this period but I don't think he was world class. Waqar also has decent series some time, but not taking 5-fers in any tests against non-minnows means he was also not world class.
I can't compare bowler or batsmen, but 20 tests world class vs 75 tests world class makes it easy to pick despite not being apple to apple comparison.
not sure to be completely honest, I am just going with Virat for his big tours away from home, I'll switch to Waqar if he fails in England again.Waqar is a top 10 Asian cricketer. I think he edges Kohli frankly.
True, would go something like this:Waqar is a top 10 Asian cricketer. I think he edges Kohli frankly.
Bumrah probably does deserve top 10 already tbf yeah. But Miandad over Dravid?1. Sachin Tendulkar
2. Imran Khan
3. Muttiah Muralitharan
4. Sunil Gavaskar
5. Wasim Akram
6. Kumar Sangakkara
7. Jasprit Bumrah (can go up)
8. Kapil Dev
9. Javed Miandad
10. Waqar Younis
I forgot Dravid existed....Dravid at 8, Kapil at 9, Javed at 10 for me thenBumrah probably does deserve top 10 already tbf yeah. But Miandad over Dravid?
Dravid can't be better than Kapil.I forgot Dravid existed....Dravid at 8, Kapil at 9, Javed at 10 for me then
Yeah I think the utility of all rounders get underrated on the site a bit, even by meDravid can't be better than Kapil.
I go:
Tendulkar
Imran
Murali
Gavaskar
Wasim
Sanga
Kapil
Dravid
Miandad
Waqar
Dravid was a great slip fielder too though, especially to spin for the likes of Kumble and BhajjiYeah I think the utility of all rounders get underrated on the site a bit, even by me
