Virat was world class way way longer than Waqar.

Both with huge decline, but Waqar simply fell off the cliff after 20-25 tests with world calss standards. Too short a period.

I don't think it's easy to compare batsman with bowler, but in this case, I will look at how long both were world class.

20 tests for Waqar when he was world class: Performance was actually hgher level , but it started and ended here.

Waqar has 1 5-fers against non-minnows outside of this period.

Kohli was world class for 75 tests: He has some tons outside of this peruod, but I don't see him as world class outside of this period.

Waqar and Kohli , both are not world class outside of this period. Yes, Kohli got some tons outside of this period but I don't think he was world class. Waqar also has decent series some time, but not he was also not world class. No world class bowler has played 45-50 tests without picking couple of 5-fers against non-minnows.

I can't compare bowler or batsmen, but 20 tests world class vs 75 tests world class makes it easy to pick despite not being apple to apple comparison.

Kohli is always going to be hard to rate and compare with other greats given the massive contrast between his good and bad phases.

Waqar has ZERO 5-fers against non-minnows outside of this period.

Ok but Waqar was still reasonably good outside his peak. Kohli has been averaging 30 for the last five years which plain bad as a top bat.

And you shouldn't compare tests played with bowlers and bats.

In terms of years Waqar was ATG for five years and then good after that.

Waqar is a top 10 Asian cricketer. I think he edges Kohli frankly.
True, would go something like this:
1. Sachin
2. Imran
3. Muralitharan
4. Akram
5. Gavaskar
6. Sangakkara
7. Dravid
8. Waqar
9. Kapil
10. Miandad

Not sure about Waqar vs Kapil, would be a good poll. Would place Bumrah here soon enough hopefully.

1. Sachin Tendulkar
2. Imran Khan
3. Muttiah Muralitharan
4. Sunil Gavaskar
5. Wasim Akram
6. Kumar Sangakkara
7. Jasprit Bumrah (can go up)
8. Kapil Dev
9. Javed Miandad
10. Waqar Younis
Bumrah probably does deserve top 10 already tbf yeah. But Miandad over Dravid?
