West Indies annoyingly got to triple figures from a similar position in the first test. Can we wrap it up quickly today?

He's only on 53 tests at the moment. Long way to go.

The last 2 wickets outscoring the first 8 was cute the first time it happened. I'm thinking we've got to rethink our plans against the tail. The West Indian top order needs to have some shame too.

I'm all for healthy competition between bat and ball, but if teams are getting rolled over first day regularly and some old man looks like the best SLA bowler of all time, it's not much of a game.

Two thoughts:
  • A session lasting into its 42nd over is not only pretty funny but might be a record for the past 30 years where rain was not a factor.
  • Given that in this series West Indies' bottom three have twice all outscored the entirety of their top nine (), you'd think they'd seriously consider reversing the batting order for the second innings to blunt / see off the new ball.

Well yes but if you're an overseas batter you're better off skipping the tour. Pitches shouldn't be roads and shouldn't be rank turners from ball one either.
I’m from SA so I’ve seen some real green tops over the years and it’s got me thinking about this on numerous occasions. If countries can dish up green decks that totally nullify spinners then I’m okay with SC teams doing the same to seamers. What I have an issue with are pitches like Cape Town 2024 or even the one in this first test of this series TBH. I watched long passages of play and one end was clearly doing more than the other. Doing this makes the opposition bowlers who are less skilled than the home bowlers have a bigger say. If this was a flatter pitch Pakistan would still win but here they are giving the West Indies a shot.
