10 + drop

Was he totally inconsistent after mid 90s ?
Else his average wouldn't have dropped 10+.
He developed some eye issues and had a drop from form, also seemed to have lost passion and people were calling him finished but he had that huge series against McGrath and Warne in 1999 but then got some injuries and couldn't do much in 2000, he then went to Sri Lanka in 2001 and found his form and consistency again, iirc his average before Sri Lanka series had fallen to...47

One thing many don't says, Lara was once averaging 60+ in 90s but by the end of 90s his career average drops to 50 (even lower)
He maintained marnus lebuschagne level consistency.
Man seriously 🤦‍♂️ marnus is htb and minnow basher. Plz dont disgrace barin lara by compering him with frauds like labuschagne

tbh the Lara lone wolf narrative is stupid, in the 2000s he had Gayle/Hooper/Chanders, all top class batters, agreed on other two.
I'll sit this one out except to say this, Lara statistically was a lone wolf. He scored a higher proportion of his teams runs over his career than any batsman with the exception of Headley and Bradman. That's a statistical fact.

The same Hooper who played like 2 years in the 00s? And still averaged mid 30s? Gayle never got going at his best till Lara retired. Just a laughably stupid post.

Gayle was solid towards the end of Lara's career and outperformed him in some big series (against the really good England attack in 04/05). Sarwan was a decent player too. WI bowling was worse than their batting at the time.

Lara really carried west indes heavily in 1996-2002 or so imo. Even though that was his own slump he had some epic one man shows where he singlehandedly defied the other team.

Gayle was making huge runs in Lara's big South Africa Series in 2003 iirc, he made like 400 runs too that series No? yhe narrative makes sense pre Gayle.
