And WI were the best team of the era so a mixed record against them away is kind of a sore spot and doesn't help the idea that he depended on greentops.

Averaging 28 against Peak Windies in Windies and being called mixed is like averaging 42-43 in West Indies against 3 of the quaret and that being called Mixed.

Yeah except he averaged 30 plus with 23 wickets in 6 tests.

You cant include only the best returns for Lillee and not Wasim.

Point is he was a flop on slow wickets. Even couldn't blast away minnow Sri Lanka team and average 35 against them.
79 was a home series mate.

Lillee sucked on slower wickets. Deal with it.
Dennis Lillee was highly regarded not because he got a back problem in West Indies or he did not perform well in Sri Lanka or Philippines, He gave his best in series that matters most for Australia during his time period. He popularized fast bowling more than any other bowler for the cricket 🏏 and he may have had his flaws but that won’t matter much when you compare his performance to that of other bowlers of his era.

That was a good WI batting side and he got spanked compared to the rest of the attack.
You do know that he bowled through the pain of what would become a broken back in that test? The injury was so bad many say it's a miracle that he ever played again

Sure and Wasim played as a teen in England in 87.

We include those stats but give context.

This playing in the SC **** is starting to get so old
It's not just the SC, he just didn't tour much overall. A grand total of 10 tests outside Australia and England just looks odd in an era that included several other non minnow teams.

Pretty unarguable that touring repeatedly to countries with a variety (not necessarily difficulty) of conditions/pitches is one of the biggest challenges in test cricket and he didn't really do it (or didn't get the chance to do?) much. Still have him as a top 10 pacer because of other reasons but it's fair to have this is a bit of a ding against his record imo.
