Bumrah is a very pragmatic fast bowler. He bowls for the result, recognising his limitations, and does not bowl for the spectators' entertainment. He bowls full lengths, medium pace and looks for swing, accepting that he must not dare to hit the deck. He knows that he will get hammered into oblivion if he dares to hit the deck.

I can see him succceeding in the hellish conditions of England, where the pitches are slow, the weather is rainy, and the conditions antagonise bounce.

Read today on Twitter that only 3 cricketers have been ranked No.1 in all the 3 formats( please correct me if I am wrong)

1. Ricky Ponting
2. Kohli
3. Bumrah

Bumrah reportedly was the first bowler to rank #1 in all 3 formats so it's not surprising that it's a short list.

Matthew Hayden and Shakib too
Shakib as batsman? Hope it's not all rounder ranking, that doesn't count

Can we merge this thread and "Is Bumrah an ATG" thread? Very similar stuff being discussed.

Yeah, but till now it's a one of incident for Bumrah really. In the past he have finished 5 match series (eg last England tour) and he only really sit out in dead rubbers. If he gets injured 2 or 3 times more mid games, I can understand the critic. But it's a way too soon call really.
He’s actually missed a ton of games due to injuries. Not as many as Shoaib, but a ton still.
