I'm not saying he was as good of an all rounder as Kallis. Just saying he could've been better. But he wasn’t
The hypocrisy.Nah Kallis was a 3/4th bowler for early career and a 5/6th bowler later career.
Imran I always acknowledged is a 6/7 borderline specialist bat.

Can't argue against this team. I would like to play Viv, but a great team.Hobbs

Love it tbh. Gets in the top 3 pace bowlers of all time, and Sobers' bowling responsibility is lower which is good because in an ATG context, I think he'd be a weaker 5th option. He'd make a solid emergency backup option here. Batting depth is terrific with Hadlee/Imran both.Hobbs

What's wrong with those numbers?81 wickets in 71 Tests
Nah
Lower WPM?What's wrong with those numbers?
Imran even without not outs has an output of 30 runs an innings. The hypocrisy.
But he played wayyyyyyy more as a 4th than any other slot.
And if course then, Imran was a 7 / 8 the majority of his career and a 6 only really late?
Hardly specialists.
And really and truly their outputs are more comparable to each other's than being even close to Sobers's.
But in reality, Kallis was more often a 4th / 3rd than he was a 5th
And conversely Imran was more a 7th / 8th than he was a 6th.
Like the arguments you make, doesn't make sense.
Overkill on bowling frankly. You can easily fit another ATG bat since Gilly is not a no.6 at all. I would remove one of Hadlee or McGrath.Hobbs

Like the set up but in such an instance the allure of Warne/Murali duo is too much to ignore for me.Hobbs

My opinion is that it is much easier to score against ATG spinners than ATG fast bowlers.Warne and Murali against another ATG side?
Especially in the first innings. My opinion is that it is much easier to score against ATG spinners than ATG fast bowlers.
obviously, Australia and Pakistan handled Murali at his home crafted pitches, so did India to an extent, spinners are just bad batters merchant, someone like Sobers would turn both the ATG spinners into his personal concubines but could never do that to Trueman. My opinion is that it is much easier to score against ATG spinners than ATG fast bowlers.
Its simple physics.obviously, Australia and Pakistan handled Murali at his home crafted pitches, so did India to an extent, spinners are just bad batters merchant, someone like Sobers would turn both the ATG spinners into his personal concubines but could never do that to Trueman.
It takes the match getting into the 4th and 5th day for the spinners to reach pacer level of effectiveness.I honestly think the two ATG spinners are rated because of their dominance over other spinners bar Tiger, in actual skill and what they bring to the table against good batting lineups, they're just far inferior to a lot of pacers
Figured people would have figured out from India by now this all rounder stuff doesn't work.I have five batsmen(including Don) and Gilly.
Two bowlers who can bat(avg of 35 & 25).
It is more than enough to win.
