South Africa team selection

Good news. So likely a Durban and Highveld test. Last one was also in our winter of 2016
Might want to avoid Durban. Their outfield couldn't drain for 4 days at that test vs NZ.
Centurion and wanderers probably safer options.

It's commendable that SA have won 8 Tests in the last cycle while going through so many bowling combinations. The NZ series was a given but the injuries and Conrad making some bold calls really showed that there is depth at the moment. (Bosch, Paterson been shown faith, Mulder as a second seamer twice and even Muthusamy over Piedt).

Nortje and Williams didn't play in this cycle but them along with Sipamla are obviously Test quality quicks as well. KG is an elite athlete though, been the constant while the attack changed around him.

Watching Delano Potgieter yesterday got me thinking about the similarities between him, Beyers Swanepoel and Dayyaan Galiem. From what I've seen of Delano he seems to have the higher upside with the bat? Beyers the best long format bowler? How do you guys rate them across formats and disciplines?

Potgieter is the best batter , Swanepoel is the best bowler ..Galiem a better bat than Swanepoel and a bit quicker than Potgieter.

If I was Conrad I would never speak to this guy again , the doos is revealing tactical plans so openly on social media.
Tbf just doing his job. Doubt Aussies will be looking at what he is writing. This is run of the mill stuff in England and Australia I'm sure. It creates the interest and debate. Some might not be happy with too much info and some might want it.

Yeah you're right. It is a bit concerning that we don't know what our best team is heading into a final ..That's why we need a test or two before the Aussies

I don't think he's revealed all that much. We already know that there are seven options for the top six and that Rabada, Jansen, Maharaj, and Mulder are petty much locked in, while the remaining bowling spot depends on who's available and what the conditions are like.

The final's six months away though, and while I would imagine Conrad's got a pretty good idea of who he wants to pick, things could change in that time. And he's certainly not going to make too many definitive statements to the media.

Nothing new there tbh…not like he is saying he is recalling Elgar or pushing Jansen back up. I’m pretty certain we know the XI now. It’s just where people bat (Mulder, Rickelton and Bedingham) and who is the third seamer.
