**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

This innings of 40 by Washy is like an 80 right about now. Someone who can bat slow and long while letting the other batsmen be the aggressor. We have too many of these 'aggressors' in our team.

Jurel is another of a similar mold but can also accelerate if required. Bit of a shame he hasn't got many chances yet but he's another player India need to invest heavily on.

The Wheel is Forever
We're 150 behind
The betting markets have Australia with 41% chance to win, India with 15% chance.

Draw really creeping up on the percentage chance which honestly I don’t think will happen. If you look at draw no bet odds, Aus is at 78% and India at 22%.

I think it’s very generous to give india a 22% chance given they have precisely one bowler who can do damage. So probably worth taking Australia on that. But it’s not as absolute a position for Australia as it was this morning so well done to the all rounders.

Umpires off for bad light, trying to manufacture a wicket for Aus. Aus look broken out there though. Again, on paper, we shouldn't be losing from here on out. On paper.
Australia will likely have 100 run lead and 2 days to force a result so India far from safe.

Yeah Aus bowling wise are not quite on, but very brave man to bet against an LOL collapse from India in the 2nd innings.

Aus are probably a small bet as ultimately its one wicket and then the rabbits.

I don't see how India force a win, the pitch is placid and the Indian bowling isn't great.

I don't think Australia will dangle a carrot when it comes to a declaration either.

I think we'll be fine as long as Rohit demotes himself to no.9 or no.10 batter.

Needs to somehow add 10kph to be a serious seaming all rounder.

And secondly, Test cricket shouldn’t be the place where you “develop” a player. That is a very bad sign for your domestic competition. If that’s what you need to do, then you should just scrap your FC competition.
There have been so many success stories of players in test cricket this year despite modest FC records ..

Think Santner , Carse , Bethell , Kumar Reddy , Bosch, Jamie Smith wasn't even keeping for Surrey before being keeper of England ..

Sam Konstas is 19 and playing for Australia after a handful of games , when has that ever happened with Australia..

This year has been the triumph of the Eye Test.

Whatever it takes!!!
I said much earlier that the only ones in this side who have the "Pujara game" are Jaddu and Washy. They dont have as good a technique as Puji but they have the temperament to stay there if they are lucky enough to survive the early barrage.

As Shri said though, this is just the worst timing for a rain break for us. And we are still 150 behind. Just so so disappointing that even a great partnership can only bring your position from absolutely hopeless to just about hopeless. :(

Can probably add Washy to that list too as I dont think he was picked for his bowling at all even in the NZ series.

Its ridiculous that our side will actually look better if we get Gill, Sarfraz and Jurel in for Rohit, Virat and Pant. :(

I recall seeing his name on a few scorecards opening the batting. I think I might be getting the formats wrong.
He started his FC career as an opening batsman, then got selected more as a bowling allrounder and batted around 6-7, and more recently has been at 3. He's missed a lot of FC cricket because of his quicker development as an anti-cricket spoiler bowler in limited overs stuff.
