kinda sad how he did so well when he first toured here as an innocent kid with responsibility of leading the attack suddenly thrust on his shoulders. everyone was rooting for him especially given how he was dealing with his dad’s death at the time.

He needs to definitely behave better on the field but I do think he actually does do better when up against it. He has just lost a lot of his length and seam positions, I feel, as a bowler. Maybe IPL and a lot of white ball cricket did it to him?

I think there is bowling talent but Indian thinktank have made it a habit of introducing young pacers into white ball cricket rather than red ball. A couple of bad games in limited overs cricket, they lose confidence and never considered for Indian team selection again let alone the test team.

Would've loved to see the express pace of an Umran Malik or Mayank Yadav on these pitches.

if it gets him going then i say go for it, but i really don't think it does. every time he mouths off he follows up with a pie.

that said he's not been as bad this series as the general sentiment suggests.

I don't think MMarsh is underrated in white ball cricket at all, he's quite good. But we're in a test match thread so whiteball cricket means nothing
