Help me figure out who the No. 5 in my AT XI should be (Richards vs Others)

who should be the no. 5?

Adam Gilchrist
Imran Khan
Malcolm Marshall
Glenn McGrath
Muttiah Muralitharan

The position I'm doubtful about is number 5. Should Viv play at number 5? He averaged 60+ at number 3, but that position is locked (obviously). Should I keep him? Should I replace him with someone else? or Maybe I should exclude Viv to play Sobers at 5 to have an additional batter or bowler (most likely, Barnes)?

You can also suggest some other changes in the squad.

Richards was at his best at number 3.
At 3 : 59 inn. 3508 runs @ 61 with 12 centuries. 2 ducks
At 5 : 61 inn. 2720 runs @ 47 with 6 centuries. 6 ducks

I asked a similar question sometime back.

In India’s ATG team Virat Kohli is often picked as number five position despite him playing just 30 odd innings in that position at an average below 40

Obviously, Richards batted at 3 when he was at his best. I am pretty confident he would had scored at 5 just fine back then, not to mention batting at 5 is easier anyways.

At number 5 one has to bat with the wicket keeper and lower order. The most successful batsmen in that position are generally the ones with grit and determination.

1. Bowlers win Test matches. I would definitely want to have Imran Khan who is one of the best ever.
2. I already have Don Bradman(as well as Imran/Hadlee/Gilly) in the team so he would compensate for not having a 6th specialist batsman.

Hutton to open, Grace to #5.

Alternatively: Lara for Viv.

Alternatively: Richards is probably fine.

Imran at no. 6 might not be the best of options. And don't feel the necessity of the inclusion of both Hadlee and McGrath, as they were pretty similar.

Reckon you're fine with Viv at 5, Viv until the end of the 1988-89 Australia series was averaging 52 at 5, after that he just happened to bat 5 in his decline a bunch.

Gilly at 6 & Imran at 7 then.

I want 4 pacers and one spinner.
Marshall. McGrath. Hadlee. Imran. Murali.

Bowlers win Tests and they have the ability to take 20 wickets on any pitch and win the match.
