Glad we gave India nothing to build confidence off going into the next test. I assume we were slogging given the scoreline though.

Why would Ashwin not at least help the team out in Sydney, and Melbourne if the pitch warrants playing 2 spinners?

With Swann, his team had already lost the series. Here, the series is in the balance.

If Ashwin isn't injured, it's a selfish decision.
It’s a dummy spit

I suspect it's because he was told it's unlikely he'd be picked in the next two tests, but would still have to join the team for the morning run on Friday
There’s a very good Indian restaurant not far from the Gabba so maybe they threatened him with a skinfold test

He wasn't told that he wouldn't feature.

It was simply that they had to assess the conditions and choose the bowling combination accordingly. And if 2 spinners were required, Ashwin would play.

He just grew frustrated at being left out. He saw that there's now three spinners fighting for that one spot instead of two spinners. So he felt if he wasn't needed or critical to team's plans, it was time for him to move on.

They're acting like they're down 3-0 like England 2013-14. Those idiots should realize they have a series to win...they can spit the dummy after that.

Pathetic lack of killer instinct
Are you implying they are not 3-0 down morally? The lack of killer instinct stems from the unspoken truth that the formal series scoreline flatters them.

Marshall retired when he was 33, I don't want Bumrah to play tests beyond 34.

The worst that can happen is no fast bowling talent flowing into the side which forces Bumrah to extend his career as a "leader of the attack".
Marshall was forced out. Could have played another couple of years. Plus player management is better now than it was then.

They were excellent in Perth. OK their batting is **** but Aus isn't much better.

They shouldn't have tinkered with the captaincy. Bumrah is in superman mode rn and could handle it. Poor nepotistic selection has seen lethargy creep into this team.

The mouth watering prospect of a series win in Aus should be galvanising these guys to pull it together. There have been enough positives from every match that they should be looking alive.

Why not just treat it as a holiday, carry drinks, and retire after the series? I don't know...wouldn't you want to be part of the challenge, such as it is, still being mounted?
