If NZ want to take piss they could do this when England go out to bat, putting the field out when Duckett is facing so they can get Crawley on strike
I remember Nathan Astle was once given out in an ODI when the ball hit the drawstring on his pantsHow many times pre-DRS were players given out from the ball brushing the thigh?
In a partnership of 28 runs without scoring, too. Where's the Southee tribute, Will? The O'Rourke strategy of "hit the ball when it's hitting the stumps, miss the ball when it's missing the stumps" is such an effective troll to the opposition.
"Drop your attack leader and choose to bowl" a questionable strategy for sure.Looks very easy to bat on now. No idea what this strategy is but it’s not working.
I said this earlier in the thread. He really made his name in white ball cricket where he was rapid, hitting 90+. On his debut he was a steady 87-88 and accurate with it. Really surprised there's so little comment about this change to an 82-83 seamer, whatever his success. This might be slightly unpopular given England have comfortably won this series, but I don't see that much in Atkinson. Has a great average for his first fifty test wickets, took the hat trick... Gets some seam movement, but it's pretty gentle pace-wise. If he's bowling at 135km/h, like he's hit at times with the new ball this series, that's a different story. But his average pace for the series has probably been sub 130.
Contrast to Carse, with the height, bounce and extra pace, even if not always accurate. The appeal is obvious.
Yes, I got confused with my negatives. I meant not unexpected, e.g. expected.I wasn't surprised. He's gotten out many times just like this or doing his smart alec little dab to third man
I don't think it's a conscious decision. I heard on a podcast that he'd said he was struggling for rhythm despite the wickets.I said this earlier in the thread. I think England's attitude is basically this pitch is only going to get better to bat on today, so we really don't care how long it takes to get this last wicket so long as we don't concede too many runs.Looks very easy to bat on now. No idea what this strategy is but it’s not working.
