So? Kapil was a lower order batsman trying for quick runs without the intention of remaining not out and boosting avg.Kapil was also very regular/consistent at scoring ducks and getting out for less than 10 runs more often.
Kapil scored 16 ducks and got out for less than ten runs 64 times in 184 innings (34.78%).
Imran scored 8 ducks & got out for less than ten runs 35 times in 126 innings (27.78%).
He definitely wasn't more consistent. The argument for Kapil is he was more explosive.Consistent how? What do you base that off?
They have a similar 30's per innings, Imran having a slight edge. So? Kapil was a lower order batsman trying for quick runs without the intention of remaining not out and boosting avg.
0 and 10 makes no difference, while 30s and 40s does.
Explosiveness doesn't make a batsman better? He definitely wasn't more consistent. The argument for Kapil is he was more explosive.
It depends if maximum performance threshold can heavily overwhelm the gap in consistency. I'm not entirely sure it does in Kapil's case but Imran's consistency also had a degree of dependence on slow pitches.Explosiveness doesn't make a batsman good.
Consistency does.
Again, most of Imran's 30s came in last quater of the career. That's not consistency. They have a similar 30's per innings, Imran having a slight edge.
Imran Khan= 39.68%
Kapil Dev= 38.04%
And 0's and 10's from a no. 7/8 may not make a difference as far as match results are concerned, but they sure do have an impact on how the batter is rated, and rightfully so.
That's not inconsistency that's just his batting graph improving as his career progressed.Again, most of Imran's 30s came in last quater of the career. That's not consistency.
So, we should dismiss those stats because they came in the last quarter of his career but ignore the fact that Kapil would get regularly dismissed for less than 10 runs at every stage of his career. Great!Again, most of Imran's 30s came in last quater of the career. That's not consistency.
Imran had three batting phases. Uptil 1980 when he was at best a useful bat, 80 to 88 when he averaged 40 and was a 6/7 decent bat, and the last few years when he was a genuine bat.So, we should dismiss those stats because they came in the last quarter of his career but ignore the fact that Kapil would get regularly dismissed for less than 10 runs at every stage of his career. Great!
Genuine question. And not only related to this subject but in general.Genuine question. And not only related to this subject but in general.
When you look at these hundreds, do you look at context, or it just spread sheets?
I literally said for "top order guys" do you look to see if......Why are you expecting matchwinning knocks from lower order bats?
So you agree Imran was not consistent, and last few years helped him to cover up it.So, we should dismiss those stats because they came in the last quarter of his career but ignore the fact that Kapil would get regularly dismissed for less than 10 runs at every stage of his career. Great!
Last "few" years? Averaging 53 in a 9 year stretch is "few" years? So you agree Imran was not consistent, and last few years helped him to cover up it.
First 5 years of that 9 years produced grand total of 1 century.Last "few" years? Averaging 53 in a 9 year stretch is "few" years?
Still scored 6 fifties at 32.13 runs per innings in those five years. And the RPI is better than any 5 five year stretch of Kapil's career.First 5 years of that 9 years produced grand total of 1 century.
53 avg
2 tons.First 5 years of that 9 years produced grand total of 1 century.
53 avg
He is counting 1982-1986.2 tons.
Ok but he didn't play for a year in between due to shin injury. He is counting 1982-1986.
