Hogg started his First-Class career as a middle order batsman then took to bowling later. He was a bowler
Shame he only played 7 tests. Then again, 35 average in shield cricket in that era probably is a bit inflated.

First should be "between 1961 and 1988"; there were two hat-tricks in late 1988 (by Courtney Walsh and Merv Hughes in successive Tests in the Aus v WI series) - weirdly, they were the first two Test hat-tricks to be split across innings. There was only one test hat trick between 1961 and 1989.
There were 12 in five years between 1999 and 2004.
Test cricket has been saved imo.And I'm not counting these exactly but I think we've had something like 45 tests in 2024..... and just one of them has been drawn.
You’re welcome…WI drew a game and still at the bottom of the table. And I'm not counting these exactly but I think we've had something like 45 tests in 2024..... and just one of them has been drawn.
His batting average in the 80s was 44.Imran Khan batting average 50 and bowling average 19 during 80s
Related stat - of the top 60 century makers in test history, Kane Williamson is second only to Bradman for century ratio.Only 3 batsmen in history have scored a century every 5 innings or less

2. George Headley - every 4.0 innings
3. Clyde Walcott - every 4.9 innings

Crawley must be up there for some appalling batting records if you were to use 50 tests as a cut off point and only include top 6 bats.Zak Crawley's average vs Matt Henry is only fourth worst across NZ bowlers he has faced.
