Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

we're yorkshire

School Boy/Girl Cricketer
Paul Collingwood took 6 for 31, and hit 112 off 86 in the same game, making him the only player in history to take a 6 fer and score a hundred in the same ODI.

Molehill

Cricketer Of The Year
The previous record for the most Test wickets by players debuting for a team in the same year was 85 (WI in 1948 and Eng 2003 - Anderson debut year). England have obliterated that record thanks to Atkinson, Bashir, Carse, Hartley, Hull and Bethell taking it to 156!!

Was wondering since Bumrah’s 10’fer thing is still a thing.

I didn’t look at all after I found this initial one.

But Premangsu Chatterjee took 10/20 for Bengal vs Assam in the Ranji Trophy. In the other innings he took 0/38. (both complete innings)

Probably not unique, but fun stat.

Couple of other fun FC stats.

Highest 4th innings chase - 2010 Ranji Trophy, West Zone chased down 536 vs South Zone (541/7) - Jadeja scored a pathetic 1 in the chase though.

And if anyone was paying attention to the 2024 county matches (I certainly wasn’t) Glamorgan almost broke that against Gloucestershire chasing 593. They did however score 592, incredibly giving us a tied match. Notably Bancroft (Gloucestershire) and Labuschagne (Glamorgan) both scored centuries.

If Bumrah plays both remaining matches of the B/G trophy he’ll be second behind Ishant Sharma for most by an Indian bowler in Australia.

International Regular
Alex Carey replaced Tim Paine as Aussie Keeper. They have now both played 35 Tests and both have the exact same batting average of 32.63
