the good ol aussie mental blockClarke and Rogers also retired after that Ashes - it wasn't a great side
Yeah, they are pretty good. Carse looks like an inspired selection. I reckon they must be favorites for the Ashes if he remains fit.A warranted return.
To allow themselves to be bullied in a fashion only Australia have inflicted on us in the last decade at home has been pitiful to witness.
Are England really that good? C'mon, this should have been competitive.
How good England are is irrelevant. We've just been inept and, playing like this, we'd be trounced by most semi competent international teams. India was the exception, not the rule.A warranted return.

As NZT said in the series thread, we're an old team with plenty of decent players playing with outdated plans.Do we owe India mostly to Rangana Herath, and an incredible amount of happenstance of factors that contributed to 3-0?
No Test win is a fluke, let alone 3. But holy hell you look back now and a million things happened to a side that now looks the most feeble, pathetically run outfit to become history makers
Mitchell is hanging on for now imo, but wouldn't mind seeing Chapman get a crack at test cricket.Tbh we just have way too many passengers in the team at the moment. Last 12 months:
Conway - 23
Latham - 25
Mitchell - 29
Blundell - 16
Southee - 9 | 62
You can't expect to consistently win games with numbers like that.
If Mitchell were to be dropped, surely Young takes that spot.Mitchell is hanging on for now imo, but wouldn't mind seeing Chapman get a crack at test cricket.
Agree about the others.
Watching the Aus v India test last night they were discussing how Shubman Gill looks class but his record doesn't quite reflect it yet. One of the Indian commentators mentioned how good Will Young looked against India but can't get a game. Made a big impression in that series. If Mitchell were to be dropped, surely Young takes that spot.
Agree. I was assuming that if Conway and Latham were axed first (before Mitchell) that Young would already be in openingIf Mitchell were to be dropped, surely Young takes that spot.
Young shouldn't be opening at full strength no matter what IMO. The difference in his records opening vs not opening is too much to ignore now. I'd sooner make Mitchell open.Agree. I was assuming that if Conway and Latham were axed first (before Mitchell) that Young would already be in opening
