He was a damn good swing bowler. Very good. Probably ATVG level ish or very close to it. That also means being below par as a Spinner but lot better as a quick than his stats suggest, also had insane workload.

Other thing to take not is Sobers was rarely the 5th bowler. He played as a front line bowler most of the time and had opportunitues. Imran even when he was scoring big was not.pushed up the order. However when it mattered like in WC 92 final, he could bat at the top too.

I find the term ATVG silly anyway and don’t use it but I assume that it would also follow that guys like Caddick, Siddle and Cairns are also ATVG quicks.

I can argue that Sobers wasn’t even the best of his era and Ken Barrington had a better and more complete record and is underrated because of his dull batting.
