Ok makes sense.Yeah I actually many days think Tendulkar edges Imran as 3rd greatest cricket of all-time, tho on points it should be Imran.

Really? I thought this list overall summarized the general consensus of people outside CW.No, top 10.
The Dhoni vote I understand because of his crazy fan following here in India. But didn't know Akhtar and Jayawardene had fans like that to put him over Steyn.Really? I thought this list overall summarized the general consensus of people outside CW.
Absolutely terrible list, but you get the point.BBC - The Greatest Cricketer of All Time – your votes revealed!

Actually what I think is, they voted for the players that are famous (Jayawardene and Akhtar are enough well-known) and those who were in discussion at that time (re: Cook)The Dhoni vote I understand because of his crazy fan following here in India. That's actually understandable for general people, but not for actual cricket writers.Whereas Malcom Marshall makes hardly any top 10 list I have seen.
Yeah, I'm certain Rohit Sharma would crack into the top 20 if it were done months ago instead of in 2019 (iirc).Makes sense
This guy has Grace over even Bradman. That's actually understandable for general people, but not for actual cricket writers.
This one might be the best example for that. Marshall at 69 (nice).
John Woodcock's 100 greatest cricketers (07 Jul 1997)
John Woodcock, former editor of Wisden and senior cricket correspondent of the Times recently contributed a series of articles to the Times magazine giving hos personal choice of 100 great cricketerswww.espncricinfo.com
Isn't this the guy with the Sachin over Bradman quote, "Gentlemen, he (Sachin) is the best batsman I have ever seen in my life, and unlike most of you, I have seen Bradman bat."That's actually understandable for general people, but not for actual cricket writers.

Top 4 for me, don't know what his thought was behind putting him above Bradman. This guy has Grace over even Bradman.
He has Shane Warne over Dennis Lillee when Shane Warne was less than 5 years into his careerIsn't this the guy with the Sachin over Bradman quote, "Gentlemen, he (Sachin) is the best batsman I have ever seen in my life, and unlike most of you, I have seen Bradman bat."
I wonder how many of these 18 voted bradman at the beginning of his career?Top 4 for me, don't know what his thought was behind putting him above Bradman.
Here's a interesting piece of note that I found regarding Trumper vs Bradman.
"Interestingly, the vast majority of cricketers blessed with the good fortune to watch both considered Trumper the more accomplished. To the best of my knowledge, 18 of Victor’s peers offered a verdict – Monty Noble, Clem Hill, Hanson Carter, Vernon Ransford, Charlie Macartney, James Kelly, Warwick Armstrong, Joe Darling, Hugh Trumble, Jack Ryder, Herbie Collins, Hunter Hendry, Arthur Mailey, Len Braund, Wilfred Rhodes, Francis Jackson, Percy Perrin and Kumar Ranjitsinhji – and of this group only one considered Don Bradman superior (Rhodes)".
All that says to me that he has a good eye for talent (or is just maybe plain biased idk)He has Shane Warne over Dennis Lillee when Shane Warne was less than 5 years into his career
Found this in Twitter.Isn't this the guy with the Sachin over Bradman quote, "Gentlemen, he (Sachin) is the best batsman I have ever seen in my life, and unlike most of you, I have seen Bradman bat."
It tells me more that he has no brainAll that says to me that he has a good eye for talent (or is just maybe plain biased idk)

I know some of Don's contemporaries and even juniors maintained Trumper's superiority, mainly Lindsay Hassett comes to mind. And it's funnier because Trumper died before Don was even born and Hassett was significantly younger.......I wonder how many of these 18 voted bradman at the beginning of his career?
